Shipley and Keighley near Bradford will get more than £1.5m for regeneration projects - including new cycle lanes and footpaths plus better school walking routes.
Each town will receive £750k from the government's Towns Fund scheme to "drive long-term economic growth" and Bradford Council, divvying up the money, said as many people as possible should be able to share the benefits.
A variety of small schemes have been chosen, including a new path and cycle route between Shipley, Baildon and Saltaire, bus gates, digital information boards and more CCTV.
The money will also be spent in parks like Northcliffe in Shipley, and Cliffe Castle and Devonshire in Keighley - and around £85k each will be given to Worth Valley Railway in Keighley, and Victoria Hall in Saltaire.

West Yorkshire fire service deployed ten vehicles to the incident and a number of roads were closed in the area round the Norquest Industrial Estate on Pheasant Drive in the town earlier this evening.
Kirklees Council initially advised residents in the vicinity to close doors and window - but have now said that is no longer necessary.
There are not believed to be any casualties from the fire, which sent a plume of black smoke, visible for miles, into the sky.
The blaze is said to be under control.
Craig Sunderland says not being at his wife's hospital bedside left him "absolutely devastated".

Wakefield’s twinning partnerships with two Chinese cities will be axed over human rights concerns, it’s been confirmed.
The district signed a friendship agreement with Nanning in May last year, in a move which was hailed at the time as good for local businesses.
It followed a similar arrangement being forged with the city of Xiangyang in 2016.
But Wakefield Council’s Labour leader Denise Jeffery said on Monday that both partnerships would be scrapped in light of international criticism of China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims.
Mrs Jeffery said: “Members of the Labour group are deeply concerned about the alleged treatment of Uyghur Muslims by the Chinese state.
“The violation of people’s human rights is simply not acceptable.
“I have now received a number of responses from individuals and groups, including members of our district’s Asian communities, who believe that the council should re-consider our relationship with our sister cities.
“We have listened to people’s views and have therefore taken the decision to withdraw from our current twinning arrangements with China.”
