    A Rotherham man, who claimed he was too pretty to go to prison, has been jailed for four years for grooming a 15-year-old.

    Ryan Kirk, 25, of St Andrew's Close, Sunnyside, lied about his age after contacting her over Facebook back in 2015 and "pestered" her into having unprotected sex with him.

    The court heard that Kirk, who was 22 at the time, told the girl he was 19 and continued to have contact with her even after he realised she was only 15.

    Last month Kirk admitted charges of sexual activity with a child and was found guilty by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court.

    Police are appealing for information to find missing man Daniel Pudlo from Scarborough.

    The 24-year-old was last seen at 19:00 last night at a bus stop on Ramshill Road.

    He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt, dark jeans, a black jacket and carrying a small grey suitcase.

    Three people have been injured during a robbery at a house in Rotherham.

    Two attackers used a knife at the house on Lime Tree Walk in Denaby at around 19:50 on Sunday.

    A gold chain was stolen.

    A 20-year-old man in the house suffered cuts to his face and arm, and two others were injured as they tried to help him.

    A 29-year-old writer who works part-time at a bookshop in York has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for her debut novel.

    Fiona Mozley, the second-youngest author to be up for the prestigious literary prize, wrote Elmet while commuting between London and York.

    Emily Fridlund, another debut novelist, is also up for the £50,000 award.

    So are fellow Americans Paul Auster and George Saunders, Britain's Ali Smith and Pakistan-born Mohsin Hamid.

    A bank in Leeds has been hit by robbers this lunchtime.

    It happened at the Lloyds TSB branch on Queen Street in Morley at 12:40.

    Police say they're still at the scene and that their "enquiries are ongoing".

    Three of the UK's biggest unions say they'll strike over the government's latest pay offer which they've described as pathetic and derisory.

    The government announced increases for police and prison officers but there's nothing for health workers.

    Victoria Davey is a nurse from Yorkshire.

    She challenged Theresa May on BBC TV's Question Time in June about pay in the NHS.

    She says she doesn't mind police and prison officers getting a rise but wonders why her colleagues are missing out.

    In Scarborough Hay Lane has re-opened in both directions after the fallen tree was removed from Hackness Road.

    The A684 westbound is still blocked due to flooding between Dikehollin Lane (Aysgarth) and School Hill (Bainbridge).

    Main Street at Nether Poppleton near York remains closed due to a fallen tree between Chantry Gap and Station Road / Hodgson Lane.

  11. Police reserve budget to be used to fund staff paypublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    South Yorkshire police officers will be paid from the force's reserve budgets, according to the county's Police and Crime Commissioner.

    Dr Alan Billings says no new money will be given to cover the cost of the pay increase, with the reserves having to be used to pay police officers.

    He says it's a potentially dangerous to spend the reserves on things like paying staff.

    A South Yorkshire woman who runs a charity which turns used wedding dresses into gowns for babies who are stillborn has been nominated for an award.

    Lisa Fletcher, from near Sheffield, created the Dresses for Angels charity after losing her baby daughter, Lillie Grace, three days before she was due in October 2015.

    She's been nominated for the Inspirational Mother Award at The Butterfly Awards.

    A curious piece of art in the form of a one-tonne car hanging upside-down from a curling strip of tarmac has appeared at Tinsley, Sheffield today.

    It'll only be there for a few days and has been installed before a permanent artwork will appear on the site of the former cooling towers alongside the motorway.

    The sculpture, called Pick Yourself Up and Pull Yourself Together, is by artist Alex Chinneck.

    I hope they move that car before it gets a ticket!

    That's a rate of 4.7% in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

    Former Sheffield Hallam MP Nick Clegg has spoken about his son's secret blood cancer battle today.

    Speaking to ITV's Lorraine Kelly, Miriam Gonzalez Durantez said their son Antonio, now 15, was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in September last year.

    He found a small, painless lump in his neck and tests found he also had lymphoma across his chest.

    Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be able to operate at night for the first time, with pilots using night vision goggles so they can see in the dark.

    Previously they only had permission to fly during daylight hours, but the charity has now been granted Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) approval by the Civil Aviation Authority.

    It means the life-saving service can now operate 06:00 until midnight during the week, and 22:00 on weekends to begin with.

    According to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, they fly more than 1,250 missions every year and need to raise £12,000 every day to keep the two helicopters in the air.
