    A man has been jailed for six years for killing a woman he stabbed in the throat during a "bizarre and violent" sex game.

    Jason Gaskell severed 21-year-old Laura Huteson's jugular vein and carotid artery with a knife while having sex at his home in Hull on 27 February.

    Sheffield Crown Court heard the pair, who had only met earlier that day, had been drinking vodka and taking cocaine.

    Gaskell, 24, of Mildane, Hull, pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter.

    Jailing Gaskell, Judge Jeremy Richardson said: "In simple terms you unlawfully killed a woman with whom you were having sexual intercourse by stabbing her through the neck during bizarre and violent sadomasochistic sexual activity."

    He said Gaskell had not intended to kill her, but the danger had been obvious.

    "You took that risk knowingly and deliberately and you have paid a terrible price.

    "The price paid, however, by Laura Huteson, was infinitely greater. She is dead."

    The Money Advice Service say 17% of adults in our region find it difficult to pay their monthly bills, they say they've "never been busier".

    Low wages, zero-hours contracts and benefit changes are some of the reasons working people say they're struggling to make ends meet, the service added.

    The property, on Reed Street, was burgled sometime between 19 and 23 July while the occupant was away.

    The items stolen include an Afghanistan operational service medal, an Iraq operational service, and a NATO Operation Herrick medal.

    Among the other stolen items were a US Army knife, a Commando knife, a Georgio Armani watch, a DKNY watch, a set of bongo drums and a silver jewel encrusted ring.

    Big Al's Tattoo and Piercing Parlour in Hatfield, Doncaster, is run by Alan Turner, who aside from tattooing is also a keen bone collector.

    The room with the exhibits is open to the public.

    Union members working for Sheffield Supertram have voted to accept a new deal, putting an end to possible further strike action.

    Planned strikes were called off last week after a new deal was put on the table.

    In a statement from Stagecoach, who run Supertram, a spokesperson said: "We are pleased to confirm that Unite the union members have voted to accept our latest pay offer."

    Unite said: "Our members have accepted the three year pay deal by a margin of two-to-one."

    Pogmoor Road has been closed while safety work is carried out, police say.

    As we mentioned earlier a house roof was damaged when the steel hit a lamppost outside the property.

    No-one was injured in the incident.

  20. Man with binoculars in bush was not a 'sex offender'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Police are warning people of the devastating effects of uploading "spurious and malicious" posts to social media after a York man with learning disabilities was mistakenly labelled a sex offender.

    North Yorkshire Police received a report of a man in some bushes using binoculars, - when officers checked out the report it was discovered the man, who has learning disabilities, was actually train spotting.

    A member of the public took pictures of the man and posted them on social media calling the man a "sex offender".

    Officers say it has caused extreme distress to the man and his family, and officers have now launched an investigation into malicious communication.
