    Students at the University of Hull are able to leave messages in memory of Libby Squire on a remembrance tree.

    Police searching for Ms Squire confirmed yesterday that a body recovered from the Humber estuary earlier this week was that of the missing Hull University student.

    The force confirmed this afternoon that her death was being treated as a "potential homicide".

    A man who fell off a ladder in Hull was "impaled on several nails" before being rescued and taken to hospital.

    Emergency crews were called to the scene on Savoy Road at about 18:15 on Thursday and found the casualty "positioned between two stud walls".

    Humberside Fire and Rescue Service removed sections of stud wall to gain access and the casualty was then rolled onto a scoop stretcher under guidance of paramedics and taken to hospital.

    A teenager has been given an extended sentence after he stabbed another inmate with a makeshift knife at a Leeds prison.

    Bobby Morrison, 18, attacked a 16-year-old inmate with a sharpened piece of cutlery at Wetherby Young Offenders' Institution in August 2018.

    Leeds Crown Court heard how the victim was stabbed in the head, neck and back.

    Morrison was already serving a 45-month sentence for robbery.

    He was given an extended sentence of nine years and three months.

    Det Sgt Lee Stowe said: "Morrison was responsible for a very violent attack on a fellow inmate using a makeshift weapon that had been deliberately fashioned for that purpose."

    The northbound carriageway remains closed and there are currently 90-minute delays in the southbound direction:

    It is not yet known whether there are any injuries as a result of the collision.

    Members of the public have been warned not to walk along the riverbanks around a North Yorkshire village as a flood alert's in place.

    The level of the River Aire there is being monitored, with temporary repairs in place along the bank at Hirst Courtney.

    Engineers from the government's flood information service "do not see any immediate risk of bank failure and we do not anticipate any property flooding".

    Although there is still water within the Lower Aire washlands, a series of spring tides are now coming to an end.

    Rivers levels, from Chapel Haddlesey to Airmyn are said to be below levels of concern even on the high tides.

    University of Hull student Libby Squire, whose death police have confirmed is being treated as a potential homicide, "captured the hearts" of people in Hull and across the rest of the country, according to the Humberside force.

    Det Supt Martin Smalley said it was a "sad and devastating time" for those who knew the 21-year-old and the circumstances around her death "will only intensify the heartache for her family".

    Det Supt Smalley said: "The support shown has been overwhelming and my sincerest thanks to absolutely everyone who has been involved."

    Specially trained officers are supporting Ms Squire's family and police "will do all they can to provide further support and assistance to them in any way we are able to", he added.

    Police say they're now investigating the death of University of Hull student Libby squire as a "potential homicide".

    The 21-year-old's body was found yesterday and her identity was confirmed after a post-mortem examination, although police say they are not releasing results "for investigative and operational reasons".

    Det Supt Martin Smalley said: "We have considered throughout the missing person inquiry that Libby may have come to some harm.

    "Libby’s death and the recovery of her body now leads us to solely investigate as a potential homicide."

    An inquest into Ms Squire's death is set to be opened on Monday afternoon at Hull Coroner's Court.
