At present there are just two direct trains per day, but Transport for the North says that's not enough.

The transport body wants the frequent Leeds to Knottingley service to be extended to Goole via a little-used section of track via Rawcliffe and Snaith.

The plan is being backed by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, which says it's easily achievable with little impact on existing services.

Currently, Goole passengers wanting to get to Leeds have to go via Brough but the direct trains would be quicker and the price of a single ticket would fall from around £22 to £13.
