The quarry in Barrow upon Soar is run by Tarmac but it's believed the piece of equipment involved in the crash was being operated by Wabtec at the time of the incident.
A spokesperson for Tarmac said: "An incident occurred at Mountsorrel Quarry involving a conveyor arm and an East Midlands Train.
"We, and our contractor Wabtec, are assisting Network Rail, ORR and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch with their enquiries."
I've asked Wabtec for a statement but am still waiting for a response.

Do you remember hearing a few weeks back about a competition that could see Leicester get a new Monopoly board?
You were asked to vote between Leicester, Derby, Grantham and Newark.
Well, you've obviously been voting well because Leicester was neck-and-neck with Derby for a while but now we've got a healthy lead.

Leicestershire County Council has agreed to make cut backs to services and increase council tax... news that's not going to please anyone in the county.
We already suspected this was going to happen after the proposals were announced last month but now it's all been finalised in a full council meeting.
The cut backs and tax increase will allow the council to save £78.3m over the next four years.

It must be true what they say about a red sky in the morning, I don't think it's stopped raining all day and now we have warnings for snow and ice.
This lovely "shepherd's warning" photo was taken by our BBC Weather Watcher Loki's keeper in Castle Donington.

East Midlands Trains said the incident on Sunday involved "a ballast train used in the railway sidings at Mountsorrel quarry whose conveyor arm was wrongly overhanging the main railway line".
"The 10.20am Leicester to York service was in collision with the conveyor arm as the train passed through the Mountsorrel area at around 10.45am.
"Arrangements were made for passengers to continue their onward journeys. Train services were disrupted for a short time as a result of the incident," a spokesperson for the firm said.

Tenants were refused planning permission twice to turn the fields off Goadby Road into a travellers site.
The last refusal was followed by an Enforcement Notice by the council in November, insisting that the site be cleared and restored to its former condition.
As that notice wasn't complied with, the council took the rare step of going to the High Court to enforce it.
The tenants and landowner have a month to appeal.

I've just been speaking to East Midlands Trains about a collision in Barrow upon Soar at the weekend.
They confirmed a train carrying 85 passengers collided with a piece of quarry equipment on Sunday morning.
It caused "significant damage" to the train but none of the passengers were injured.
The driver was left very shaken.
East Midlands Trains did say one person who was working at the railway sidings at the time was believed to have been injured.
