Read MoreA dog found wandering in a country lane has been reunited with its owner after it was identified three years after it went missing.
Dasha the greyhound was stolen from the back garden of his owner’s home in Derbyshire during the summer of 2014.
The dog was spotted by a farmer and recovered by Herefordshire Council, who were able to contact its owner, Jessica Miller, who had previously used social media to try and find the missing dog.
Enforcement officer Dave Poolton said "When I saw that the dog was last registered in Derbyshire several years ago, I naturally assumed that the microchip was out of date. Nevertheless, I called Jessica, and the first thing she did was burst into tears. I have to admit, I welled up a little myself.”
Quote MessageI genuinely believed I would never see Dasha again. He was only four when he was stolen from our back garden. As soon as we had the call from Dave, I travelled straight down to Herefordshire to get Dasha and bring him back home.”

The inquest has heard that in 2010 another employee at Nylacast in Leicester had a similar accident when the end cap on a piece of machinery flew off and hit them on the hand.
General manager at Nylacast in Leicester, Damien McCormack, said this happened before he started at the firm and told the assistant coroner there was no mention of it in the company's accident book - which he would have expected to be logged.
Tarsem had worked at the company for more than 20 years and Mr McCormack said he was 'very very familiar' with all the machinery and was 'highly skilled.'
The hearing continues.

I'm back at the inquest into the death of 52-year-old Tarsem Singh who was fatally injured at the Nylacast factory in Leicester where he worked.
Tarsem was operating a pressurised piece of machinery in April last year when a piece from the machinery flew off and struck him in the chest.
The trauma led to a heart attack.
On the second day of the inquest, a statement from his wife, Kalwender Kaur, was read to the jury.
She said: "It is so sad that he has been taken away from me just like that."
A 17-year-old is arrested on suspicion of murder after the man was found in a Leicester street.

NHS bosses say they aim to get all GPs across Nottinghamshire to restart computer systems today after Friday's cyber attack prevented them from accessing medical records and other information.
Teams of engineers have been working on the updates after doctors were told not to switch on their computers yesterday and go back to using paper and pen.
But the chair of Nottinghamshire's Local Medial Committee, Dr Greg Place, a GP at the Ashfield House Surgery, said fixing computers had been much slower than originally thought.
Meanwhile, Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust, which runs Kingsmill in Sutton-in-Ashfield says it's still having problems with emails and at the QMC, say A&E has been busy as a result of problems at doctors' surgeries.
