The number of children across the East Midlands visiting the A&E with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning is rising, a study has revealed.
Figures through freedom of information requests by the campaign group Shout showed the number of cases is up 27%.
Rob Lyon, campaign director for the group, said: "Carbon monoxide is lethal at lower levels, you will feel very lethargic with almost flu-like symptoms.
"Over a long period of time it can leave you with very severe after-effects but with higher levels it can kill very quickly."

Sports Direct has been accused of breaking a promise to offer store staff guaranteed hours instead of zero-hours contracts.
Unite, the union, said the retailer was still advertising for casual workers and offering flexible contracts on Sport Direct store fronts and job websites.
They vowed to stop the practice during last year’s annual meeting.
Sports Direct holds its annual shareholders' meeting at its Shirebrook headquarters in Derbyshire tomorrow.
Steve Turner, Unite's assistant general secretary, said: "This revelation shows it is 'business as usual' at Sports Direct and casts doubt on just how sincere it is about cleaning up its act.”
The firm has been approached for comment.

Some people try to have their cake and eat it, while others are just happy wearing it...
When a guest promises to bring in cake it's likely to cause a bit of a stir in the office, but when Dawn Butler came into BBC Radio Nottingham with her baked creation it stole the show.
Inspired by the all-conquering Great British Bake Off, she designed her own 'illusion' cake, which looked far more Gucci than gooey.
Let's hope she doesn't get it mixed up with her real handbag, or it might take her a while to get her keys back.

The University of Nottingham has featured among the best in the world.
It was ranked 147th by the Times Higher Education's world ranking table for 2018, external, which lists the top 1,000 universities in 77 countries.
The University of Oxford scooped top place with Cambridge University second, up from fourth place last year.
A key factor in the rankings is income and both universities saw this rise in the past year, partly in the form of European Union research grants.
