    A woman has said she 'nearly took out her whole family, external' after mistaking a 'practice bomb' for a potato.

    Terri-Jade Barwell of Cherhill Close in Clifton was walking her dogs through a field in Clifton when one of them dug up what looked like a potato.

    Loughborough has been named as one of the best institutions in the UK, according to the Complete University Guide. , external

    The guide, which considers factors including student satisfaction, research and entry standards, has just produced its league table for 2019.

    Loughborough was ranked 7th, up from 10th in 2018.

    Cambridge topped the rankings for the eighth year in a row with Oxford second and the London School of Economics third.

    Elsewhere, Nottingham was placed 17th, Leicester 34th, Nottingham Trent 42nd, De Montfort 72nd and Derby 89th.

    A 17-year-old boy has been arrested over a stabbing in Nottingham's Lace Market.

    Police were called to St Mary's Court at about 17:40 yesterday after reports a man had been stabbed several times.

    He's in a stable condition at the Queen's Medical Centre. A youth has been detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an imitation firearm.

    Derby boss Gary Rowett praised his side's "superb" comeback as the Rams moved into the play-off places with a 3-1 win over Cardiff.

    Callum Paterson's volley had given the Bluebirds the lead at half time, but two goals from Cameron Jerome and another from Matej Vydra proved decisive.

    The result means Derby's play-off bid is back in their own hands, but they travel to fourth-placed Aston Villa on Saturday.

    Rowett said: "I think when you look at the statistics in the divisions we have only come back once to win all season and most teams are exactly the same.

    "We switched off once in the first half and we were behind and at that point it was deflating but the players stuck at it and second half I thought we were superb."

    A man arrested in connection with an explosion in Leicester has been released while investigations continue.

    Police said the male, who is from the city and in his 20s, was the eighth person arrested in connection with the explosion and was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson.

    Five people died in the blast on Hinckley Road in February.

    Aram Kurd, 33, Hawkar Hassan, 32, and Arkan Ali, 37, have been charged with arson and manslaughter.

    They deny the charges and will appear at Leicester Crown Court in August.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service has asked for an extra £20m a year from local health commissioners, to help it meet its performance targets.

    It is currently reaching the most critically ill people in an average of nine minutes, two minutes short of its target.

    Bosses have said the extra funding should mean it can hit its targets in every county it serves by September 2019.

    A series of meetings are being held this week to decide whether the region's clinical commissioning groups will meet the cash request.

    Chesterfield have been relegated to the National League after Morecambe drew at home against Cambridge on Tuesday.

    The Spireites, bottom of League Two, are 10 points from safety with three games of the campaign remaining.

    It means Chesterfield will play in non-league for the first time since re-joining the Football League in 1921.

    Jack Lester, who had won just nine of his 37 games in charge, left as manager on Monday, while his backroom staff also departed the club.

    It is a second successive relegation for the Derbyshire-based club, who finished bottom of League One in 2016-17.

    A man's body has been found after emergency services forced their way into a barricaded property.

    Police were called by ambulance crews to a flat in Devonshire Court, Oadby, in Leicestershire at around 17:50 on Tuesday evening.

    Due to a fire at the scene, the fire service attended and gained entry to the premises.

    Police confirmed they had earlier had contact with the dead man and had referred the case to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

    No further details of the deceased have been released.

    Police said the flat was barricaded from the inside and an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the man's death had begun.
