  8. Schools' career guidance roles under threat at Lincolnshire County Councilpublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2016

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A careers guidance and welfare service could disappear with the loss of 52 jobs it's being claimed.

Lincolnshire County Council is proposing to dissolve its education support department. The authority says schools could buy in the same kind of services from other providers.

But Gavyn Graham of the Lincolnshire branch of Unison says jobs will be lost and pupils will miss out.

    Quote Message

They will have no careers guidance which is provided by the local authority. Schools will then be left to purchase a careers service, a welfare service, from wherever they can find one."

    Gavyn Graham, Unison

The council says it will provide more support on the internet and that schools could buy in the same kind of services from other providers.

    Quote Message

It's pretty much a standard procedure but because of the invasiveness of the surgery it will pretty much rule him out for probably the remainder of the season depending on how long our season lasts."
