  7. Protest expected at fire cuts consultation eventpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 11 April 2016

    Campaigners against cuts to Lincolnshire's Fire and Rescue service are expected to hold a protest later, as a consultation event is held in the county. 

    Lincolnshire County Council is asking for your views on how services should be run.

    Proposals include stopping 24-hour staffing of Lincoln's South Park station and having crews on call overnight. 

    Tonight's event is at Lincoln's South Park fire station, there are also events at Grantham fire station tomorrow and Skegness fire station on Thursday.

    The body of a "badly neglected" dog has been discovered under rubbish in a town alleyway.

    The RSPCA has released details of a female bull terrier found in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, in a bid to trace its owner.

    The charity said the dog looked like it had starved to death.

    It comes days after it emerged recycling workers had found two dead family pets at a refuse sorting centre in the county.

    The company that has bought the Scunthorpe steelworks for a pound today describes itself as a "family investment group based in London".

    It will rebrand the former Tata Long Products division as British Steel - going back to its name when it was publicly-owned.

    It saw success with Monarch Airlines when it pumped £125 million into the business in 2014. The low-cost carrier has swung from a £94m loss to a £40m profit.

    But it also invested funds in an attempt to rescue electrical retailer Comet.

    Lincolnshire Police have just released these CCTV pictures as part of an investigation into criminal damage in Skegness.

    Police say they want to speak to the people in the pictures after three cars were damaged at a car dealership in the resort.

    Officers say offenders jumped on the roofs of the vehicles at about 03.15 on 19 March, at the site in Beresford Avenue.

    It's believed the group may be from the Nottingham area.

  14. Patrols stepped up after teens in street disturbancepublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 11 April 2016

    Local patrols are to be increased on Grimsby's Nunsthorpe estate after as six people were arrested following an incident in Sutcliffe Avenue, on Friday.

    Police say they were were called to the area shortly before 21:00 on Friday after a disturbance involving a group of youths was reported.

    The group, four 17-year-old boys, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after damage was caused to a police vehicle and two officers reported being assaulted.

    All four have been bailed pending further enquiries.

    An exclusive investigation carried out by BBC Radio Lincolnshire's revealed some farmers are having to wait months for payment for their goods - and they claim it's putting their businesses at risk.

    Some smaller farmers sell their produce to major supermarkets through middle men - like pack houses or bigger producers - who have direct dealings with the retailers.

    But they're not covered by the Groceries Code Adjudicator set up three years ago to oversee the direct suppliers of 10 of the biggest supermarkets.

    The smaller farmers want the adjudicator's role to be extended to cover them as well. They say this should ensure they get fair treatment and payment. The Government says a review's underway.

  18. Steelworks union spokesman: Don't forget those who've already lost jobspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 11 April 2016

    Martin Foster - the Unite union convenor at Scunthorpe - says that while celebrations are right today there are workers who have already lost their livelihoods.

    He said: "It should not be forgotten though that many workers have already lost their jobs at Scunthorpe and those that remain are making huge sacrifices with their pay and pensions to secure their jobs.

    "Unite is asking our members to back the deal, but government ministers must now play their part too.

    The government cannot now leave Scunthorpe's steelworkers high and dry and must take decisive action to allow them to compete on an even playing field with their global competitors."

  20. Scunthorpe steel: Existing top team will stay to implement planpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 April 2016

    Greybull Capital says the existing management team will stay and run the Long Products business, implementing a plan they have drawn up to return the company to profitability. 

    Greybull partner Marc Meyohas said: "We are delighted to have reached agreement for the acquisition of LPE, which we believe can become a strong business, with a highly skilled workforce and great potential."
