The reason it was shut was that four caravans arrived in the car park overnight and the council closed it to prevent others from doing the same.

The council have told us that the car park has now reopened and the travellers have said they'll be leaving the site later today.

Mclaggan, of Greystones Road, Gainsborough is accused of murdering 44-year-old Jonathan Baines, whose body was found at a property on Ropery Road on Monday.

There was no application for bail and magistrates adjourned the case for Mclaggan to appear before Judge Michael Heath at Lincoln Crown Court this afternoon.

Photos have been discovered showing the measures Lincoln Fire Brigade went to to protect the iconic Cathedral as war raged across Europe.

Susan Taylor made the find, her grandfather Frank Brown was one of the men who build and fill an underground tank full of water in the Cathedral grounds in case a fire broke out.

The now (thankfully!) redundant tank held water pumped from the Brayford Pool, it's going to be removed during a community dig in 2017 to make way for new development plans.
