  2. Football: Local teams prepare for FA cup clashespublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Boston United and Gainsborough Trinity will make their first foray into the Emirates FA Cup this weekend.

    The Pilgrim's take on United Counties League side Kirby Muxloe and Trinity will travel to Altrincham FC.

    Boston United haven't reported any fresh injury concerns following their last-gasp midweek win over Alfreton Town, but several players remain sidelined.

    Nat Brown, Shane Clarke, Herve Pepe-Ngoma, Grant Roberts and Callum Chippendale are all out of action with a variety of injuries.

    The second qualifying round encounter has £4,500 in prize money up-for-grabs and a place in Monday’s draw for the next round.

  4. Grantham Hospital's new walk in centre will open on Mondaypublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Grantham's temporary, evening-only walk-in centre is to open on Monday. 

    At the moment the A&E department is closed between 6:30pm and 9am because there aren't enough doctors. 

    The health trust insists it's not a replacement service and is actively trying to recruit new doctors.

    A Boston man who attacked two of his flatmates with a chair leg has been jailed for a year.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how Antanaz Galdikas, from Granville Street, lost his temper after discovering one of his friends was taking money from his mother. 

    The 39 year old used a chair leg as a weapon to attack his two flat mates. 

    Both victims were badly bruised in the attack and one suffered a broken nose. 

    Galdikas, who came to Boston from Lithuania 10 years ago, admitted two charges of assault in July of this year.

    The A15 London Road in Bracebridge Heath is blocked in both directions around the B1131 Canwick Avenue junction because of an accident involving three cars.

  9. LCC Update: Lincolnshire hospitals trust guilty of 'managed incompetence'published at 15:24 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    A Lincolnshire County councillor has slammed the trust in charge of Lincolnshire's hospitals for 'managed incompetence'.

    It's after ULHT announced the opening hours of Grantham Hospital's A&E would be reduced - because managers said there was a shortage of doctors.

    Today senior councillors are calling on the hospital trust to reverse the decision.

    It's emerged a man who has escaped an open prison in Lincolnshire murdered a woman while her 11-year-old son slept in their home.

    Stuart Brownhill, 59, was absent during a roll-call at 05:00 BST at the North Sea Camp prison, near Boston, police said.

    He murdered Lynne Taylor in their home in Werneth, Oldham, in 1984 and was jailed for life at Manchester Crown Court the following year.

    Police have asked the public not to approach him.

    Lincolnshire must have a directly elected mayor if it's to get more money and power from government, says the county's most senior leader

    Next month ten councils in greater Lincolnshire will vote on whether to have a mayor in return for extra investment.

    A public consultation came out against a mayor and there was speculation that the new prime minister Theresa May was willing to negotiate 

    But county council leader Martin Hill says that is not going to happen

    A 16-year-old from Brigg has been reported missing.

    Leon Bulmer was last seen yesterday afternoon - he was wearing red Adidas trainers, black Nike Jogging bottoms, dark navy jumper with a white Adidas t-shirt underneath and a navy Nike baseball cap.

    Leon is described as white, of slim build and 5ft 11ins tall with short mousy hair and brown eyes.

    He has links with the Derby and Leicester area.

  16. Hospital drop in centre will be open from Monday says council leaderpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    The leader of Lincolnshire County Council says there will be an evening drop in centre at Grantham Hospital from next week.

    It's after the opening hours of A&E were reduced last month - because managers said there was a shortage of doctors.

    Today senior councillors will call on the hospital trust to reverse the decision.

    But councillor Martin Hill has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire the drop in centre will be open from Monday.

  17. Investigation into Lincoln jail 'disturbance'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Lincolnshire police say they are investigating any criminal offences which might have taken place during a disturbance at Lincoln prison yesterday.

    Prison vans were seen entering and leaving the building during the afternoon.

    The Ministry of Justice says the incident has now been resolved and that no prisoners or staff were injured.

    A man killed in a collision at Stow near Gainsborough has today been named as 63-year-old Nigel Usher.

    Two motor cycles and a Vauxhall Astra were involved in the crash on Ingham Road, Stow on Wednesday evening.

    The car driver and another motorcyclist were taken to Lincoln County Hospital for treatment.

    Mr Usher was airlifted to Queens Medical Centre but later died from his injuries.
