    Officers investigating a break-in at Lincoln City's LNER stadium have released CCTV images of two men then want to speak to.

    Lincolnshire Police say food and alcohol was stolen during the incident, which happened overnight on 1 July.

    The force has asked for anyone who recognises either of the men in the image above to come forward.

  2. Report raises concerns over self-harm at Lincoln Prisonpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 3 July 2020

    The high number of self-harming incidents remain a concern at Lincoln Prison, according to a new report.

    The Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) said 614 cases of self-harm were reported at the category B jail in 2019 compared with 620 in 2018, adding that despite the small reduction "the high level of self-harm incidents remains a concern".

    The annual report, external also highlights the high level of homelessness among discharged prisoners.

    However, the board found that the prison is well managed, with a positive emphasis on the humane treatment of inmates.

    IMB Chair Jeremy Taylor said, “Although we have highlighted a few concerns throughout the report we have identified and reported on a number of improvements, and good performance and practice.

    "The Board is therefore of the opinion that the establishment is well managed, to good effect.

  3. Social distancing ready at theme park ahead of reopeningpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 3 July 2020

    A theme park on the Lincolnshire coast has spent more than £100,000 on social distancing measures ahead of its reopening at the weekend.

    Fantasy Island, at Ingoldmells, will reopen tomorrow as coronavirus lockdown restrictions are eased.

    Managers there say they've installed 2km of fencing to help with social distancing.

    There will also be 6,000 bottles of hand sanitiser and 70 hand wash stations on the site, where £1.2m has been spent on new rides this year.

    Drivers will have to pay once again to use Spalding's car parks from Monday, it's been confirmed.

    Council-run car parks have been free to use since the start of the coronavirus lockdown in March.

    But the district council says new uniformed officers will hand out warnings to anyone who may be unaware of the changes, before starting to issue fines to anyone parking illegally or without a ticket.

    Building and education projects in the Greater Lincolnshire area have been allocated about £26m of government funding.

    An extension to Lincoln's medical school is among the projects set to benefit as part of a £900m building scheme for the UK announced by the Prime Minister earlier this week.

    Bids for projects worth £25.8m were submitted by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

    Chief executive Ruth Carver says: It's all about delivering jobs, skills and infrastructure."

    Part of the A1 motorway in Lincolnshire will be closed overnight next week to allow bridge parts to be lifted into place as part of the new Grantham Southern Relief Road.

    Delivery and installation of the bridge beams will take place over three evenings – 6 to 8 July. Two additional evenings of A1 relief road works are scheduled for 9 and 10 July.

    The work means a full closure will be in place on the A1 northbound between Little Ponton and Harlaxton from 20:00 to 06:00 on all five nights.

    The diversion route for the northbound closure will be via the A606 at Stamford to the A607 to A1 at Harlaxton.

    One of the lanes on the southbound A1 will also be closed.

    A Lincolnshire school girl has won an international competition to design the livery for a Formula E car.

    Kitty Thwaite, 11, from Tetford, was revealed as the winner of the contest on the BBC's One Show last night.

    Describing the design, which will be recreated in full and put on display by Envision Virgin Racing, she said: I really love animals so I thought I would include some of our endangered animals on it.

    "I've also drawn the Earth in a heart to say that we should love our planet and look after it."

    The competition was organised in in partnership with National Geographic Kids and children’s illustrator Rob Biddulph.

    Long Sutton market will reopen this Friday, South Holland District Council has confirmed.

    It follows the successful return of markets in Spalding, Crowland and Holbeach last month as coronavirus restrictions were eased.

    There will be a road closure in Market Place to allow stalls to move into the road and create a safe distance for visitors to pass between shops and the market without breaking social distancing guidelines.

    The council is continuing its decision to not charge rent to stalls throughout July in a bid to support them as shoppers begin to return and get used to the new layout and guidelines.Councillor Roger Gambba-Jones said: "The closeness between the retail units and market stalls in Long Sutton provided us with a unique challenge in terms of being able to ensure safety for residents, visitors and traders.

    "I am really pleased a solution has now been reached and am looking forward to seeing the market under way again in its usual, popular location."

    Parish councillors in part of Lincolnshire say they're so fed up with congestion on one road that they have drawn up their own plans for a bypass.

    The A117 linking Stamford and The Deepings has a railway crossing at the village of Tallington (pictured).

    Local residents complain of long tailbacks due to the crossing, so Tallington Parish Council has now designed a bypass with a bridge over the railway line.

  11. Purple reign: Boston recycling bin trial hailed a successpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 1 July 2020

    Over 130 tonnes of paper and card have so far been collected as part of a new purple bin scheme in Boston, it's been revealed.

    The scheme was trialled by the borough council in Boston town, Fenside and Wyberton between September last year and May this year.

    Palm Paper, the company which processes the contents of the purple bins, reports the quality has been over 98% – including during the coronavirus pandemic.

    The contamination of the normal blue recycling bins has fallen to a record low, it's been confirmed.

    Residents who took part in the scheme - which is now ongoing - say it has helped them understand how best to dispose of their waste.

    Karen Storr, from Boston, said: "It’s a great idea and if there’s anything we can do to help the environment, help save the planet and reduce the carbon footprint, I’m up for it.

    "I’ve always been keen on recycling and am happy to help friends and neighbours when they ask me what’s what. It’s the community working together, that’s what everyone should be doing," she added.

    Grantham's new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) saw more than 360 patients in its first week, the trust which runs it says.

    Figures from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust show 366 people have used the facility, with Sunday the busiest day with 68 patients.

    It says patients waited an average of five minutes before being seen, almost 99% of patients were discharged in 87 minutes and less than 5% of patients were referred to Accident and Emergency.

    The UTC began operating at the site on last month after health bosses temporarily downgraded the hospital's A&E department as part of measures to cope with the cornavirus pandemic.

    Tracy Pilcher, director of nursing, said: “The UTC team has had a busy first week, as we expected, and we’ve been able to help a number of patients with conditions ranging from skin rashes to leg wounds.

    "Thank you to the local community for their support and the respect they have shown our busy team.”

  13. Covid 19: Hospitals discharged more than 230 without testspublished at 09:00 British Summer Time 1 July 2020

    More than 200 patients were discharged into care homes without being tested for Covid-19 by a trust which runs three hospitals, it has been revealed.

    Between 1 March and 15 April, North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) discharged 273 people to care homes, 39 of whom were tested.

    The trust runs Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford and Rutland Hospital.

    The trust has said it was following guidance at the time.

    Boston United will stage at least one more match at the club's York Street ground before moving to its new stadium, it's been confirmed.

    However, an agreement has been reached so Boston will be able to compete in the National League North play-offs at York Street.

    An ambulance responding to a 999 call has been involved in a road traffic collision in Grantham.

    It happened on Manthorpe Road at about 11:30 this morning.

    A patient and three ambulance crew were taken to Grantham and District General Hospital for further assessment as a result of the collision, according to East Midlands Ambulance Service.

  20. Spalding deaths: Man and woman found dead at house namedpublished at 09:00 British Summer Time 30 June 2020

    A woman who was found dead along with a man in a house in Lincolnshire was murdered, police have confirmed.

    The bodies of Karolina Zinkeviciene, 30, and Breshnev Ruiters, 34, were found at a house in Winsover Road in Spalding, early on Thursday morning.

    An initial post-mortem examination has indicated Ms Zinkeviciene was murdered, said Lincolnshire Police.

    The force said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

    Det Insp Andy McWatt said further forensic examinations were required on Mr Ruiters' body.

    "We will be making no further comment until the conclusion of inquests for both of these people," he added.
