    This shows the swing in voter numbers between 2013 and this year:

    Conservative:  From 35% to 53%

    UKIP:  From 24% to 7%

    Labour: 18% to 19%

    Lincs Independents:  11% to 6%

    Lib Dem: 4% to 5%

    Independents: 5% to 6%

  12. 'Temporary glitch' says UKIP in Lincolnshirepublished at 05:57 British Summer Time 5 May 2017

    Nick Smith, chairman of UKIP in Lincolnshire, says "we're not going away" despite his party losing all their seats on the council.

    Mr Smith, who is standing for UKIP in Lincoln in the 8 June general election, concedes: "This is a temporary glitch for us."

    Asked if people feel there is no point voting UKIP since the country voted for Brexit, he tells BBC Radio 4: "Probably, maybe."

    He claims voters are currently "buying into" the Conservative argument that if they are given "a magic mandate", they will deliver a magic Brexit - and predicts those same voters will return to UKIP when that doesn't happen.

    This is how Lincolnshire County Council looks today versus how it looked a month ago.

    Conservatives had 21 seats, but now have a total of 58 

    Labour had 12 places but are now reduced to six

    Liberal Democrat councillors have gone from three to one 

    UKIP had nine - but now have zero

    Lincolnshire Independents had seven and are down to one 

    Independents had four and remain with four

    Independents from Europe had three and now have zero

    The final results are in for the Lincolnshire County Council elections.

    The Conservatives now have 58 councillors, giving them an overall majority and thus control of the council.

    Labour has secured six councillors while the Liberal Democrats have a solitary representative. 

    Independent candidates secured a total of five places with one of those going Lincolnshire Independents.

    UKIP have been wiped out.

    The Conservatives have regained control of Lincolnshire County Council. 

    They swept the board with 58 councillors. 

    It's been a busy night of counting with the results coming in during the early hours.

  19. Major unions criticise school academy chainpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Eight major education unions have criticised a school academy chain which operates in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

    The unions, which represent headteachers, teachers and support staff, have raised concerns with the David Ross Education Trust over a number of issues.

    The union Unison, along with seven other teachers' unions, says the group is proposing to cut £1m from school budgets and 40 jobs across 32 schools in the region.

    The David Ross Education Trust has told us it has contacted ACAS to try to resolve the issues raised by the union at the earliest opportunity.
