Crews continue to tackle major scrapyard firepublished at 08:00
Firefighters are still tackling a large blaze at a scrapyard near Newark in an operation which has involved fire crews from Lincolnshire.
Image source, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue ServiceYesterday, the blaze at a scrap metal yard caused a huge plume of black smoke (pictured) which could be seen as far as Lincoln.
Motorists are this morning being urged to avoid the site opposite the British Sugar factory on the A616 Great North Road.
The fire involves thousands of tonnes of metal.
