River levels across Lincolnshire are slowly dropping, easing fears over flooding due to heavy rainfall today.

But the Environment Agency is still concerned about 30mm of rain forecast to fall in Lincolnshire over the next 36 hours.

Flood warnings are in place for parts of Lincolnshire, mainly connected to the River Witham and its tributaries.

River levels on the River Witham have been steadily dropping since a peak at midnight last night, external.

Rain is expected across the whole of Lincolnshire from about 14:00 today.

Over a quarter of January's average rainfall is expected to drop in Lincolnshire over the next day and a half, causing flood concerns across the county.

Environment Agency (EA) experts say "nowhere is immune" from flooding in the county over the next 36 hours.

Heavy rain is expected from this afternoon into tomorrow and it's thought as much as 30mm of rain could fall.

The five-year average rainfall for January is 114mm.

Flood warnings - meaning flooding is expected and people living nearby need to be prepared - are currently in place along the River Witham which runs between Lincoln and Boston (pictured).

Meanwhile, four flood warnings have been issued - three for the River Withern between Lincoln towards the fens at Heckington, the other for the River Glen in Greatford, near Stamford.

Otherwise, the weather forecast for Lincolnshire is for a cloudy and wet day with plenty of rain, some of which will be heavy in places, bringing a risk of flooding.

Lincolnshire's public health team has promised another mass vaccination centre will soon open in the county.

Yesterday, one opened at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston with the capacity to vaccinate about 1,500 people a day.

It was in addition to the 15 smaller sites already in operation in the county.

People in Lincolnshire are being told to prepare for possible flooding, with up to a month's worth of rain on the way in the next few days:

Thirty dogs have been taken into the care of the RSPCA after they were found in a neglected state in kennels outside a property in Lincolnshire.

RSPCA officers were alerted to the "horrendous" plight of the dogs last week and the owner agreed to sign the pets over into the care of the animal welfare charity.

Some of the dogs' fur was so matted their breeds were unrecognisable and many were covered in faeces, according to the charity.

They were taken to the vets where many had to have their fur shaved and many also needed emergency dental work to enable them to eat properly.

Ella Carpenter, manager at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre, said: "One dog was in such a state she had pus leaking from her mouth. It was so upsetting to see, it reduced rescue staff to tears."

Motorists are being warned of some flooded roads in Lincolnshire.

A new mass Covid vaccination centre opens in Lincolnshire today - one of 10 new sites in England getting under way as the government bids to meet its target of offering 15 million people in the UK a dose by 15 February.

The centre, at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston, is among the venues chosen to join the seven hubs already in use.

NHS England said the new centres would offer "thousands" of jabs a week.

It comes as a further 324,233 vaccine doses were administered across the UK, taking the total above 3.5 million.

More people (3.5 million) have now received a Covid vaccination in the UK than have tested positive (3.3 million) for the virus.

However, it is believed there have been many more cases than have been recorded, as mass testing was not available during the first peak last spring.

The government has promised all the over-70s, the extremely clinically vulnerable and frontline health and care workers - about 15 million people - will be offered a jab by mid-February.
