The Road Safety Partnership is now urging people to make sure they're visible to drivers.

John Siddle, from the partnership, says it's worth people putting some thought into their clothing:

    Quote Message

In those sort of dark areas and the lowering of light, we just want to make sure people can do the best they can possibly do to get themselves seen. So, wear something reflective, something high-vis if possible, wear torches, lights. Anything reflective that would help a driver out."

Janet Judson, from Lincoln, received the coronavirus jab this morning at Lincoln County Hospital.

She said: “I’m so grateful to have been asked to have it. It’ll make a real difference, actually. It will give me a chance for a few more years hopefully.”

Lead nurse Leanne Belton said it was an “absolute honour” to give Mrs Judson the vaccine.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT) is one of the first 50 hubs across England to begin the mass vaccination programme after it was approved by regulators last week.

The UK is the first country in the world to offer the Pfizer jab.

ULHT chief executive Andrew Morgan said: “This is a really important day for the NHS. It is the start of the biggest roll-out of a vaccination programme this country has ever seen and I think it is a turning point in our collective fight against the pandemic."

The first person in the UK to get the vaccine was 90-year-old Margaret Keenan. She was followed shortly by 81-year-old William Shakespeare.

    Quote Message

We are absolutely delighted that our first patients, our first care home staff and our first members of the NHS family are being vaccinated today. This is clearly a marathon and not a sprint, but we do have to start somewhere and I am delighted that ULHT is one of the first sites to begin the vaccination programme in the country."

  9. Low morale at Lincolnshire Police highlighted againpublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2020

Lincolnshire Police has the second worst morale of any police force in the country for the second year in a row, new findings suggest.

    Lincolnshire Police HeadquartersImage source, Google

In a survey conducted by the Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file police officers, 87% of Lincolnshire Police officers who responded said morale was low.

Branch Secretary Insp Barry Steele says management at the force had failed to make substantial improvements in 12 months.

"This is the second year our members have returned this position via this survey.

"The force reaction to it 12 months ago just lacked any credible energy or drive to understand the issues and tackle it, and that's why it's so disappointing."

In a statement, Ch Con Bill Skelly says the physical and mental health of officers continues to be a priority, and that the force has introduced several wellbeing initiatives.

He adds that being the lowest-funded force in the country is having a considerable impact on staff.
