The epic route starts on the banks of the Humber and winds its way through Lincolnshire to finish on the shores of Rutland Water.

Toby Forbes Turner, Steve Bird and Steve Lockwood, who all work for City of Lincoln Council, set off from the Humber Bridge at 05:00 this morning.

They're doing it to raise money for their friend Ben Lockley, external (pictured) who suffered a brain injury in a charity bike ride last year.

Toby says his biggest concern is the weather:

Given the amount of rain we've had, the ground is going to be really wet. Some of the paths will be really boggy and across farmers' fields. Blisters are going to inevitable, I think..."

  2. Children at illegal Freiston Hall school 'let down'published at 09:34 British Summer Time 4 October 2019

An inspector from education watchdog Ofsted says it wasn't fair that vulnerable children were left to wander unsupervised around an illegal school in Lincolnshire.

The three owners of Freiston Hall in Boston were prosecuted last week for running an illegal school.

Ofsted had found the school failed to carry out appropriate staff checks and supervise pupils properly.

Patricia Hodgkinson, from Hampstead, Dr Albert Okoye, from Middlesex, and Clement Earle, from Walcot near Sleaford, admitted at Lincoln Magistrates to failing to register the school.

They were each given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £1,000 costs.

    Quote Message

Children with complex needs deserve the very best. They were let down and this wasn't fair to the children or the local authorities paying lots of money for them to be educated."

At its height, 10 fire crews were tackling the blaze at a property on Gunby Road in Sewstern, near Colsterworth.

    They are now damping down.

People living in the area are being advised to stay clear and keep their windows and doors closed.
