  8. Claims roadside workers have been threatened with gunspublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 22 October 2019

Council officials say some roadside workers in Lincolnshire have been threatened with what appear to be guns by people waiting in their cars.

It comes following the news that a glass bottle was thrown at contractors at Sutton Bridge last week.

The £100,000 works to upgrade the swing bridge there have led to two-mile tailbacks in recent weeks but it's now been completed.

Lincolnshire County Council's Richard Waters says staff regularly have abuse and objects hurled at them and it isn't acceptable:

    Quote Message

The suite will include a £465,000 MRI scanner, clinical rooms and waiting areas for both outpatients and inpatients.

It is expected that 8,000 patients a year from Louth and the surrounding area will use the scanner at the hospital, rather than having to travel further afield.

The Louth Scanner Appeal was started in 2004 and since then local fundraisers have raised £507,608 and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust have put in an additional £350,000 for the suite.

The work is expected to be completed by Spring 2020.

ULHT’s MRI Service Lead Chris Bilton says it's a great achievement:

    Quote Message

This is a huge step forward for the hospital, and we couldn’t have done it without the appeal and the support it has received from local people.”

    Chris Bilton, ULHT

  10. Lincoln Cathedral turns redpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 22 October 2019

If you noticed a funny glow around Lincoln Cathedral last night, fear not, it was just technicians trying out the buildings new lighting system.

Over the last seven months more than 500 LED lights have been installed to highlight and enhance the Cathedral's architecture.

It also means there's now the option to light up the landmark's towers with coloured lights so the building can recognise important local, national and international events

But the red lights have not been to everyone's liking with some saying the cathedral looks "demonic" and makes the building "look like it's got horns."

Nikki Cannon from the charity says they are launching a campaign calling on the Government to urgently address the "crisis" facing both the NHS and social care sector:

    Quote Message

There is an absolute crisis in the NHS, there are 40,000 nursing vacancies and there are simply not enough staff to be able to deliver care safely and effectively and patients are feeling that."

The plans also include a large indoor bistro and an outdoor seating area.

The authority has been recommended to approve the proposal at committee next Tuesday but concerns have been raised by the Sleaford and District Civic Trust and others over the loss of exhibition space and the impact on the potential remains of the former wharf for the Navigation Warehouse.
