    With the rain falling on South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire last night, there was some surface water flooding.

    Roads remain closed as a result, but thankfully it wasn't as bad as last week despite the yellow rain warning being issued by the Met Office.

    Some homes remain flooded along the River Don.

    River levels did rise, but far below last week's record-breaking peak of 6.31m.

    We've seen roads flooded in East Yorkshire, including the A63, but that has since been cleared and reopened.

    A number of flood warnings remain in place for the region and they can be seen here, external.

    The railway line between Sheffield and Worksop will be closed until the end of the day because of heavy rain causing flooding near Kiveton Park.

    It's also expected to remain closed tomorrow with no replacement road transport being put on by train operator Northern. It says it tried to source transport, but couldn't.

    Rotherham station (above) has reopened after it was closed because of flood damage to the track.

    Affected routes this morning include:

    • Sheffield - Gainsborough/Lincoln, no service on Friday, customers advised not to travel
    • Sheffield - Scarborough/Bridlington, services will terminate/start from Hull
    • Doncaster - Hull, services will terminate/start at Goole, road transport is being arranged between Doncaster and Goole.
    • Sheffield - Hull/Beverley, services will terminate/start at Doncaster
    • Doncaster - Scunthorpe, services will run via Skellow and will not call at Kirk Sandall
    • Doncaster - Sheffield, services will run as normal
    • Rotherham Central has opened as planned with services resuming from first thing this morning (Friday)

    Hospital bosses have apologised after new figures showed just 65% of A&E patients were seen within four hours last month.

    In October, 15,139 people attended A&E at hospitals under United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust control.

    However, just 9,723 (642%) were seen within the allotted four hours. The national target is set at 95%.

    Simon Evans, director of operations at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "Our A&E performance is not where we want it to be and we would like to apologise for this.

    "Over recent months we have seen a significant increase in the number of very poorly patients attending at our A&Es, as well as cases of the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

    "This has coincided with a reduction in the number of patients being discharged from our hospitals, which has unfortunately resulted in long delays for some of our patients in A&E."

    Food manufacture Bakkavor says it is "disappointed" staff at its factory in Spalding have voted to go on strike.

    Earlier, Unite announced that its members had voted in favour of industrial action by more than four to one in protest at a 1.5% pay offer.

    Responding to the news, a spokesman for Bakkavor said: "We have been in ongoing, extensive dialogue with employees and the Unite union regarding the 2019 pay proposal at Spalding.

    "We believe the pay proposal we have put forward delivers a competitive, above-inflation pay increase for all colleagues.

    "Under 30% of all colleagues at the site voted in favour of strike action and, as such, we are disappointed our proposal has been rejected and a ballot for strike action has been passed."

    The firm added that it's pay offer represented a "highly competitive" 3% total package, with a 1.5% pay increase and 1.5% lump sum.

    A 14-year-old girl who went missing from Grimsby has been found safe and well.

    Humberside Police said Scarlett Lewis, who was reported missing on Monday, is now back with her family.

    The Environment Agency warnings mean "flooding is expected, immediate action is required".

    Workers in Lincolnshire who prepare food for supermarkets have voted to go on strike in a dispute over pay.

    Members of the Unite union employed by Bakkavor, in Spalding, backed industrial action by more than four to one.

    The union said its ballot was in protest at a 1.5% pay offer.

    Regional Officer Mick Orpin said a strike would cause "considerable disruption" to the supply of products including hummus and taramasalata.

    However he said there was "still time left to resolve the dispute" and called on managers to "get round the negotiating table".

    Train operator LNER has apologised to commuters in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire facing major delays after a train derailed in Leeds.

    Services between Leeds, Lincoln and Kings Cross are affected after an empty passenger service struck a stationary train at the Neville Hill depot last night (pictured above).

    In a statement, LNER said: "We apologise to any customers who may have their journeys disrupted."

    No-one was injured but disruption is expected on the network until about 18:30.

    A Network Rail spokesperson said the disruption was because access was restricted to the depot which is used by a number of train operators.

    LNER said in a statement: "There has been a low speed derailment of an empty passenger train within the depot near Leeds.

    "No one has been injured in this incident," it added.

    The company has already cancelled several services between Leeds, Lincoln and London Kings Cross this morning, external and is advising commuters to check before they travel.

    Researchers at the University of Lincoln are hopeful they can help people with Type 2 Diabetes through sound.

    They're looking for volunteers with the condition to spend three nights in their sleep lab where a particular noise will be played to them during deep sleep.

    The theory is it will help their glucose levels and improve their quality of sleep.

    Emergency crews will be on standby today as more rain's expected to hit parts of Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire already hit by flooding, Humberside Fire and Rescue says.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" weather warning, saying as much as 30mm could fall in areas already affected.

    Waithe Beck, near Waltham in North East Lincolnshire, still has a flood warning in place.

    Another remains in force at Patrington Haven in East Yorkshire, but the Met Office's yellow weather warning for rain does not cover that area.

    Humberside Fire and Rescue Service says it will have crews in place from 09:00 this morning ready for any localised flooding across the region.
