They say they fear the annual flu season could coincide with a surge in coronavirus cases, putting pressure on the NHS.
The county's director of public health, Professor Derek Ward, is urging patients who are eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Prof Ward says vaccines are already being delivered to surgeries and GPs will be inviting patients for a jab from next week.
Quote MessageA key message is to do it earlier. If we do manage to get a Covid vaccine then we want to be able to roll that out as quickly as possible. If you've already had your flu vaccine then great, you'll get both protections."

The organisers of the Lincoln Asylum Steampunk Festival say putting on the event next year could be a challenge.
The event, which would have taken place this weekend and which normally attracts thousands of people in costumes, has been cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
John Naylor, Asylum Steampunk organiser, says despite some festival events going online this year, they won't be making much money.
Quote MessageThis year we've caught a cold. We've lost quite a lot of money and that money's got to be found somewhere or we've got to try and make some economies next year."

Tens of thousands of illegal cigarettes and several tonnes of rolling tobacco have been recovered from several shops in Lincoln, it's been revealed.
More than 90,000 cigarettes and 3.5 tonnes of tobacco were discovered at five stores in the city, with detection dogs finding illegal cigarettes hidden behind a toilet in one of them.
Police and officers from Lincolnshire's Trading Standards raided the shops in February and earlier this month.
Products were found hidden behind a toilet in one shop and inside a disguised magnetic compartment within a tiled wall in another.
The landlords of two of the shops evicted their tenants after the first raids, while the other three shops were visited again last week and were still found to be selling illicit tobacco.
Investigations continue to bring prosecutions against the retailers, according to Trading Standards.

Grantham Town took on Stamford at the Vic Couzens Stadium, but the match was abandoned at half-time as Grantham trailed by two goals.
Stamford boss Graham Dury said: "I think there were five or six nasty challenges from the opposition...which you don't really want when you've got an FA cup game in two weeks."
Meanwhile, Grantham boss Martin McIntosh said: "I don't think it was the referee that called it off, I think Graham came onto the pitch and said he didn't want to carry on any longer."
