They say they fear the annual flu season could coincide with a surge in coronavirus cases, putting pressure on the NHS.

The county's director of public health, Professor Derek Ward, is urging patients who are eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Prof Ward says vaccines are already being delivered to surgeries and GPs will be inviting patients for a jab from next week.

    Quote Message

A key message is to do it earlier. If we do manage to get a Covid vaccine then we want to be able to roll that out as quickly as possible. If you've already had your flu vaccine then great, you'll get both protections."
