Covid-19 infection rates in Lincolnshire are expected to fall in the next few days, according to the county's health bosses - but they're warning now is not the time for complacency.

    Covid app

The number of people who've died in Lincolnshire's hospitals since the start of the pandemic after testing positive for coronavirus stands at 431.

Meanwhile, a total 242 patients with the virus are currently being treated in the county's hospitals, it's been confirmed.

Officials say more testing is currently being carried out in the county than at any other stage of the pandemic and they're hoping the rates will begin to level out and drop.

However, Andy Fox, a consultant on Lincolnshire's public health team, says they're still dealing with cases which began before the latest lockdown came into effect:

    Quote Message

We're doing more testing than ever...so that's positive. We've done over 20,000 tests in the last seven days and results are coming back quicker now. However, we have been finding more Covid - it's not just that testing is going up, the incidences of the disease is also going up."

The artwork, on platform two, was inspired by the Poacher Line which runs from Nottingham through to the Lincolnshire seaside town of Skegness.

Artist Alisha Miller spent several months travelling the line chatting with passengers, conductors and rail staff asking them what was surprising about travelling on the Poacher Line.

She says the comments helped her build up a picture.

Donna Adams, from East Midlands Railway, says: "The artwork will brighten up the station for our passengers and help create a more colourful and interesting space."

Meanwhile, Jo Andrews, Community Rail Officer for the Poacher Line, says the new installation "showcases the diversity of the line and highlights the importance of the railway in connecting communities".

A former Lincoln City manager says he can't understand why there isn't more concern about the possible link between footballers heading the ball and later going on to develop dementia.

    Sincil Bank Stadium

Earlier this month, Sir Bobby Charlton became the fifth member of England's 1966 World Cup winners to be diagnosed with dementia - the others have all died since 2018.

A study published in 2019 found that ex-professional footballers are three and a half times more likely to die of dementia than the general population.

Chris Sutton, who was in charge of Lincoln City 10 years ago, says his father Mike, who was also a professional football player, now has very advanced dementia:

    Quote Message

Appointing Lincolnshire’s new top cop to take over from Bill Skelly is proving highly complicated.

Paul Gibson was originally named by Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Marc Jones as the preferred candidate for the job.

That was meant to go before the Police and Crime Panel to be rubber-stamped, but that was then halted.

The PCC said he was having to re-start the whole process due to what were described as "procedural problems" and the job was re-advertised.

Whoever lands the job will be on a £143,000-a-year salary, with the preferred candidate due to be announced in the next few weeks.
