  1. Ukrainian 'plotted terror attack against Russian embassy buildings' in Londonpublished at 10:24

    A Ukrainian nationalist planned a terror attack against the Russian embassy in London, a court has heard.

    Vadim Bezkorovainiy, 35, carried out three reconnaissance missions to the embassy from his home in Luton in 2014, prosecutors said.

    The father-of two denies engaging in preparations to commit acts of terror and the trial continues. 

  2. Restrictions placed on planned Million Mask Marchpublished at 10:03

    Scotland Yard has issued restrictions under the Public Order Act on a planned anti-establishment protest tomorrow.

    For the past three years protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks have demonstrated in central London on 5 November.

    The Met said it was "unacceptable" to use the annual Million Mask March as an excuse to break the law and said it had strong reason to believe that peaceful protest was "the last thing on the minds of many of the people who will come along."  

    The event had seen a rise in anti-social behaviour, criminal damage to monuments and buildings, harassment of motorists and attacks on police officers, police said.    

  3. Camden man charged with city centre fight murderpublished at 09:51

    A Camden man has been charged with the murder of a 20-year-old following a city centre fight in St Albans.

    Emille "Millz" Stapleton, 20, died in hospital after trouble broke out on London Road, St Albans in the early hours of Saturday, 24 October.

    Paul Crosbie, 26, from Camden but of no fixed address has been charged with killing him and is due at Hatfield Remand Court later today.

  4. High Court challenge of Lambeth housing estate planspublished at 09:41

    A High Court case involving Lambeth residents is due to finish today.

    People on the Cressingham Gardens Estate are challenging the council's plans for redevelopment and claim they are being forced out of their homes.

    Lambeth Council, external wants to knock down more than 300 homes and rebuild them alongside more social housing as well as homes to be sold on the open market. 

  5. Petition over fear Met Police will lose £1bn in funding and 5,600 officerspublished at 09:30

    Former Met police, external Commissioner Lord John Stevens is sponsoring a national petition against government cuts to policing as the Met believes it will face cuts of up to £1bn.

    Labour says this could mean the loss of another 5,600 officers in London and will hold a debate and vote in Parliament later today. 

    The Government says police forces will still have the resources to do their work.

  7. Junior doctors' contracts - pay rise or pay cut, and what about patient safety?published at 08:58

    This morning on BBC Radio London we're talking about junior doctors as the health secretary  sets out details of proposed new contracts.

    He says junior doctors would get an 11% pay rise but others argue it represents a pay cut in real terms because their guaranteed annual pay rises would be scrapped. They also say it does not address their patient safety concerns.

  8. Disruption continues as DLR strike continues into second daypublished at 08:53

    Hundreds of thousands of commuters face more disruption on day two of the Docklands Light Railway strike.

    The 48 hour walk-out by members of the RMT union, external is over the use of agency staff and claims of bullying. 

    The operator, Keolis Amy, external, said it wants to carry on with talks.

  9. Man charged with south London sex attackspublished at 08:42

    A man has been charged in connection with a number of sex assaults in Brixton and Clapham.

    Mehdi Midani, 24, of no fixed address, has been charged with six counts of sexual assault and two counts of exposure, between 22 and 31 October.

    He is due to appear before Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court later, the Met, external said.

    There is very slow traffic on the A201 New Kent Road westbound in Newington from Bricklayers Arms to Elephant And Castle.

    And there long delays on the A316 into town from Apex Corner in Hanworth in Twickenham to Richmond Circus.

    There is no service on the Docklands Light Railway today between Bank and Lewisham, Tower Gateway and Woolwich Arsenal and between Stratford International and Beckton due to strike action by the RMT union, external.  

    There are also minor delays on the District Line due to signal failure at Upney.
