  2. Squatters make 'super sewer' site their homepublished at 09:59

    A group of people, along with 16 caravans, have accessed the construction site proposed for Fulham's '"super sewer" known officially as the Thames Tideway Tunnel, external.

    Thames Water, external said the group gained access to the area on Tuesday evening and it was talking to the police, external and planning legal proceedings to evict the occupiers.   

  3. Ramsey sacked as QPR coachpublished at 09:47

    Queens Park Rangers head coach Chris Ramsey has been sacked.

    The 53-year-old, who signed a three-year deal as Rangers boss in May after a spell in caretaker charge, leaves a day after a 1-0 defeat by Derby left the team 13th in the Championship.

    Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand said the move was made in the "best interests of the club".

  4. Bonfire Night fires at 'record low'published at 09:35

    Bonfire Night incidents in London are at the lowest level ever recorded, London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

    In 2005 officers were alerted to 365 fires in the capital, but last year there were only 112 - a fall of 69%.

    The Fire Brigades Union agreed there was a downward trend but said recent cuts still "jeopardise people's safety".

    An Uber driver has been jailed for eight months after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young woman in his cab, police said.

    Samson Haile, 32, was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which will prohibits him from working as a private hire driver or applying to be a private hire driver in England or Wales, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.  

  6. First-time buyers queue up for Hounslow flatspublished at 09:17

    People have been queuing up for more than 24 hours in Hounslow for the chance to buy new homes which go on sale tonight.

    The reason? Some will cost less than £200,000.

    The flats are specifically designed and priced for first-time buyers.

  7. Sharm el-Sheikh flights 'may resume tomorrow'published at 08:57

    The UK continues to halt all flights between Britain and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, external, saying there is a "significant possibility" an explosive device caused the Russian plane crash at the weekend.

    If you are due to fly out to the resort over the next few days you're advised to contact your airline or travel agent but flights may resume tomorrow, says UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond.

    DJ Neil Fox is due in court later to stand trial over alleged historical sexual offences against girls.

    The 54-year-old from Fulham is accused of sexually abusing nine girls aged between 13 and 16. 

    He denies 13 counts of indecent assault and two of sexual touching without consent.

    Police are warning violence could break out at an anti-capitalist rally in central London tonight.

    Organisers of the Million Mask March have told thousands of expected attendees "the police are not your friends" . 

    But Scotland Yard has said the march must finish by 21:00 and must be limited to a section of the West End including Trafalgar Square.

  11. Fresh appeal over Shoreditch bar shooting murderpublished at 08:26

    The family of Marvin Couson, who never recovered from being shot more than 13 years ago have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.

    The 39-year-old was left unable to communicate or leave his bed after he was wounded at the Lime Bar in Shoreditch in May 2002. He died 8 August this year.

    On what would have been his 40th birthday, Mr Couson's mother Emily said: "No-one should suffer like this" as the Met, external continue its murder investigation.
