  1. Funding additional officers by neighbours 'without precedent'published at 10:03

    This morning BBC Radio London's Breakfast Show and now Vanessa Feltz have been discussing the fact that residents in one part of north London have offered to pay for a neighbourhood policing team out of their own pockets, external.

    The Met's Detective Chief Superintendent Penny Banham said: "To date, no resident or community group has provided funding for additional officers, neither has the MPS received a formal approach to fund additional officers from the Hampstead residents group.

    "As such, the scenario cited is without precedent and should a request be received, it will be reviewed by the MPS and MOPAC to decide whether and how it could be progressed, bearing in mind the complex, legal and contractual arrangements that will need to be considered. "Hampstead, as with all wards across Camden Borough, has its own dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team and is also supported by our 24/7 Emergency Response Teams. Hampstead remains one of the safest areas in London and officers will continue to ensure that the community of Hampstead receive a professional and quality service."

  2. Quad bike crash leaves two men critically injuredpublished at 09:48

    Two men are in hospital in a critical condition following a collision in east London involving several quad bikes.

    The crash happened shortly before 15:00 yesterday on the North Circular near the Crooked Billet in Walthamstow.

    The Met said "a number of vehicles" were involved in the crash including the quad bikes.

    But it's not just a trade trip.

  7. Boy and two men charged with murderpublished at 08:47

    A 14-year-old boy and two men have beencharged with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death.

    Haile Langa, 21, from Kilburn, north-west London, died from a stab wound to the chest, Scotland Yard said.

    He was pronounced dead at 15:06 on Thursday after officers had been called to Watling Gardens, in Shoot-Up Hill, Kilburn.

  8. Woman, 87, punched in the face on Croydon buspublished at 08:29

    The Met Police are looking for two teenage girls suspected of punching an 87-year-old woman in the face on a bus.

    The woman was assaulted in Croydon, south London, on 16 October.

    She was taken to hospital with a black eye and was later discharged.

    The attack followed an incident in which two girls refused to pay to board the bus, according to Croydon Safer Transport Team.

  9. Latest travel: Delays on the railspublished at 08:20

    After a second signal failure at Rayners Lane this morning, the Piccadilly Line has no service between South Harrow and Uxbridge and the Metropolitan Line has no service between Harrow on the Hill and Uxbridge.

    On London Overground, after a signal failure at Forest Hill, there’s severe delays between New Cross Gate and West Croydon/Crystal Palace.

    Southern trains are also affected by the signal failure at Forest Hill causing delays.

    South West Trains has delays of 15 minutes through Surbiton after works overran.

    On the roads, in Wandsworth, the A3 West Hill is part blocked by the South Circular following a collision. Congestion building up quickly.
