    Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew said his side had "deserved to win" after a late Sunderland goal snatched a draw for Sam Allardyce's team.

    Dame N'Doye's deflected first-half effort had put the hosts in front.

    Connor Wickham scored twice in six second-half minutes against his former club to put Palace on course for a first league win in 11 games.

    But substitute Borini's injury-time effort from an almost impossible angle rescued a point for Sam Allardyce's side and moved them up to 17th.

    Responding to news that the TSSA will ballot control room staff over strike action, Steve Griffiths, London Underground’s chief operating officer, said: “We made a full and final offer on pay and Night Tube... which is fair and affordable."

    He urged the TSSA to follow the RMT in voting to accept a deal for an all-night Tube service.  

    Earlier, TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortes accused LU of "continuing to drag out this unnecessary dispute".

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission has found that a former Met Police officers "would have had a case to answer" for misconduct if they were still serving. 

    Former detective inspector Robert Lambert was found to have a case to answer for misconduct for arranging a meeting between former commander Richard Walton and an undercover officer. Mr Walton's misconduct involved his attendance at the meeting.

    IPCC Deputy Chair Sarah Green said: "Robert Lambert and Richard Walton both had a case to answer for discreditable conduct in that their actions could have brought the force into disrepute. 

    "As neither of the men are now serving police officers, it is not possible for misconduct proceedings to take place to determine whether or not the case would be proven.” 

    The Met responded to say it disagreed with the case to answer findings, according to the IPCC.

    A man in his late 30s was pronounced dead at an address in High Street, New Malden, in the early hours of this morning. 

    Police said a woman in her 40s had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    A Scotland Yard detective was removed from his post after telling colleagues he wanted to approach Paul Boateng - then government minister in charge of police.

    Multiple sources have told the BBC they believe Det Insp Clive Driscoll intended to ask Mr Boateng what - if anything - he knew of a known paedophile, John Carroll.

    But before Mr Driscoll could approach him in 1998 he was axed from the case.

    There is no suggestion Paul Boateng - now a Lord - had done anything wrong.

    When friends of Paolo Riozzi from London noticed that a lot of people seemed to share his facial features, they put together a Facebook page of people that look like him. Soon, the Paolo lookalikes were everywhere.

    There are still severe delays on that part of the line.

    Control room staff on London Underground are to be balloted for strikes in a row over pay.

    The Transport Salaried Staffs Association said it was issuing ballot papers to its members in a dispute over maintenance responsibilities being "loaded" on to controllers. 

    Talks are to be held at the conciliation service Acas. 

    The warning came after members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union voted to accept a deal for an all-night Tube service.

    Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink said his side are now aiming for a top six finish after their victory over Norwich at Carrow Road last night.

    Blues full-back Kenedy drilled in from 20 yards after 39 seconds and  Diego Costa doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time.

    Cameron Jerome hit the bar before Nathan Redmond scored for the Canaries.

    "Now with the ambition of Chelsea we must set a new target and see what we can do in the direction of Europe," Hiddink said.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses after a fatal motorbike crash in Battersea Park Road, south London, on Tuesday.

    The rider, a 49-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified. 

    Police are trying to establish how he came to lose control of his vehicle.

    Pilots are calling for research into what would happen if a drone hit an airliner, after 23 near-misses around UK airports in six months last year.

    Reports from the UK Airprox Board reveal one drone passed within 25m (82ft) of a Boeing 777 near London Heathrow Airport.

    Pilots union Balpa wants the government and safety regulator to back research into how serious a strike could be.

    Five police officers could face criminal charges following the death of Sean Rigg while in police custody.

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it had passed evidence to prosecutors to decide if the case should come to court.

    Mr Rigg, who suffered from schizophrenia, died at Brixton police station in 2008.

  14. Tube officials advise customers to avoid District line between Acton Town and Ealing Broadwaypublished at 08:43 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2016

    Speaking about the earlier derailment near Ealing Broadway, Steve White, operations director for the District line said: "Following a signal failure towards the end of service last night, a District line train approaching Ealing Broadway station subsequently became derailed as it crossed a set of points.

    "No one was injured and our engineers are working closely with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch on site to investigate this incident. 

    "The District line is currently suspended between Acton Town and Ealing Broadway and customers are advised to use the Piccadilly line or Central line to complete their journey."

    After a bright start to the day, a squally band of rain, hail, and locally snow will pass south-eastwards across the area later this morning.

    The snow will be mainly over high ground such as The Chilterns and North Downs.

    Brighter conditions will spread in during the afternoon, but it will remain windy with scattered showers.

  16. Travel: Accident blocks lane at Hyde Park Cornerpublished at 08:13 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2016

    One lane is blocked on the A302 at Hyde Park Corner because of an accident causing heavy traffic in the area.

    There are also long delays on the A406 North Circular Road in both directions at the Hanger Lane Gyratory.

    Vehicles are taking between 45 and 60 minutes to travel through the area because of heavy traffic.
