    The City of London Corporation opted for the unusual step of taking a political stance in the run up to the EU referendum.

    The corporation, of 125 elected members who represent the Square Mile, has voted to support the campaign to remain in the EU.

    It said: “Taking into account the views of City stakeholders and businesses, the City of London Corporation supports the United Kingdom remaining a member of the European Union.”

    It is a move that is sure to spark controversy, as many of those campaigning for Britain to leave the EU had urged the City of London to remain impartial.

    The Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who is campaigning for Britain to leave the EU, has said that London would be better off out.

    Two soft toys found on trains have finally been reunited with their owners following a year-long campaign.

    Great Western Railway (GWR), which runs services from west London, launched a campaign to find the owners of more than 40 toys in its lost property in November 2014.

    It had previously failed and the cuddly animals were due to be donated to charity.

    However, GWR said two bunny toys had successfully been returned to their owners.

    Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews admits taking steroids was "one of the biggest mistakes" of his life.

    Speaking exclusively to Newsbeat, he says he took the pills "completely out of vanity" because he wanted to "look good in the shower".

    But he is adamant he wasn't addicted to them and didn't think he was doing anything wrong.

    Last year he was asked to leave the I'm A Celebrity jungle after revealing he was using pills.

    A body was found in the water in Battlebridge Basin off Regent's Canal in Islington this morning.

    Police believe the body is that of a man aged in his 30s, although full identification has yet to take place.

    A study that tests the method of geographical profiling on Banksy has appeared, after a delay caused by an intervention from the artist's lawyers.

    Scientists at Queen Mary University of London found that the distribution of Banksy's famous graffiti supported a previously suggested real identity.

    The study, external was due to appear in the Journal of Spatial Science a week ago but the BBC understands that Banksy's legal team contacted QMUL staff with concerns about how the study was to be promoted.

    London Underground chief operating officer Steve Griffiths talking about the RMT's ballot of Tube maintenance workers over Night Tube pay said: "We are disappointed that RMT Tube Lines has rejected this fair and affordable pay offer. 

    "We made a full and final offer on pay and night Tube to all four trade unions on 21 January, and the majority of RMT members have already voted to accept this offer.

    Scotland Yard has released CCTV footage after a 65-year-old man had a large amount of cash stolen from him on a bus in Wandsworth.

    The victim was travelling on a 295 bus on Plough Road on 25 October 2015 when another man boarded the bus and sat near him.

    After a short while, the suspect approached the man and grabbed an envelope of cash which he had withdrawn from a nearby bank earlier that morning.

    The robber, described as a black man, about 6ft tall and unshaven, left the bus and made off.

    The Met , externalhave appealed for anybody who may recognise the suspect to contact them.

    A fox has been speared by a crossbow bolt through its neck and cheek.

    The animal was discovered with horrific injuries in Gosfield Road, Bromley, in south London.

    It is illegal under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, external to harm a wild animal and vets believe the fox was running away when it was speared on Saturday.

    A spokesman for the RSPCA said the injury would have caused the animal a great deal of pain and the crossbow only narrowly missed vital organs.

    Michail Antonio's seventh-minute header from Dimitri Payet's corner gave Slaven Bilic's side a narrow victory margin, but the Hammers were vastly superior to a disappointing Spurs.

    Tottenham remain in second place in the Premier League, three points behind Leicester.

    A millionaire has denied intending to harm a police officer who was dragged hanging out of his car along a dual carriageway in London.

    Sgt Robert McDonald tried to get Sir Harry Djanogly, 77, out of his Jaguar XJF after pulling him over for speeding on the A40 near Acton, west London.

    Sir Harry, from central London, denies dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer on 27 December 2014.
