    BBC Radio London's Jason Rosam is reporting on the 48-hour strike by junior doctors, as they walk out for the third time in a dispute over contracts.

    At the picket line at St Georges Hospital in Tooting he came across the 'National Health Singers', external who were singing their about woes.

    Seven men involved in the £14m Hatton Garden raid in central London are expected to be sentenced later at Woolwich Crown Court.

    The gang carried out the break-in over the Easter weekend in 2015, ransacking 73 boxes at Hatton Garden Safety Deposit taking gold, diamonds and sapphires.

  4. 'Fifth Beatle' Sir George Martin dies, aged 90published at 08:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

    Record producer Sir George Martin, known as the "fifth Beatle" has died.

    Breaking the news on Twitter, Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, 75, said, external: "God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara. George will be missed."

    A carpenter's son from Holloway in north London, Sir George helped the Beatles achieve global success as the head of the Parlophone record label after hearing their demo tape in 1962.

  5. Travel: Power problems causing train delays in east Londonpublished at 08:13 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

    Power problems are causing delays to mainline and London Underground trains in east London.

    There are delays of about 50 minutes on the C2C in and out of Fenchurch Street.

    On the Hammersmith and City Line, there is no service between Liverpool Street and Barking; and on the District Line trains are not running between Barking and Upminster.

    There are also delays on South West Trains between Fulwell and Shepperton following a signal failure.

    And on the roads, the North Circular is congested eastbound from Harrow Road to Neasden because of the roadworks.
