Boris Johnson's father Stanley has sadly turned down the opportunity to come on tonight's BBC London News programme at 18:30 to discuss his son's elevation to the role of Foreign Secretary.
However, he did email: "Much appreciate your invitation but will pass on this one, tho' of course I'm thrilled!"
Cllr Philippa Roe said: “The vision of the West End Partnership is for Oxford Street to be the world’s best outdoor street shopping experience, with cleaner air, first class public realm and an unrivalled mix of flagship and branded stores.
"As part of this we are looking at numerous options, with all of our partners, as to how we can deliver this, including reducing traffic and creating modern retail spaces.
"Pedestrianisation has been only one of a wide range of options that the West End Partnership has been considering in relation to Oxford Street and we are now conducting significant work with our partners, including GLA and TfL, that will report back in the autumn.
"The key to any Oxford Street improvements is a very significant reduction of buses that move through the area and we need to ensure that traffic is not displaced creating congestion and air pollution elsewhere."
London mayor Sadiq Khan is hosting a summit of political and business leaders from across the capital to "forge an ambitious new cross-party consensus on further devolution to London".
Mr Khan is hosting Conservative and Labour MPs and council leaders at City Hall for the discussions, which will also include business representatives from the Corporation of London, London First and the London Chamber of Commerce.
A settlement for London would aim to give City Hall and the boroughs significantly more control over taxes raised in the capital and how public services are run.
Mr Khan warned that "we can’t protect Londoners from the economic fallout of leaving the EU without more autonomy for London government. This is essential to protecting Londoners' jobs, wealth and prosperity".
A major fire at Parkfield Industrial Estate close to Clapham Junction station broke out last night.
London Fire Brigade said some fire crews remained at the site and were damping it down.
Plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street by 2020 has been broadly welcomed by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry., external
Policy manager Siwan Puw said: “With the introduction of Crossrail to the West End pedestrianisation of Oxford Street seems inevitable. The huge increase in footfall will require clear planning to maximise pedestrian safety and minimise disruption to businesses.
“Doing it in stages certainly has its advantages in that it means trading will continue more easily and any issues can be ironed out as we go along.
"However, we need to ensure continuity of service in the area during the changes and make it as smooth as possible a process for roads users, pedestrians, businesses and residents.”
Oxford Street will be pedestrianised by 2020, the Mayor of London's office has announced.
All traffic including buses and taxis will be banned from the shopping street - one of the most famous in the world - as part of the mayor's plans to tackle air pollution.
More than 4 million people visit Oxford Street each week.
City Hall said the project would be rolled out in two stages to reduce disruption on the 1.2-mile street.
Cars are already banned on most of Oxford Street between 07:00 and 19:00 every day apart from Sunday.
