    Communities and Local Government Minister Lord Bourne says, after calls for local Council leader Nicholas Paget-Brown to resign, that elected representatives' position is "a matter for them to consider".

    He points out there is a support unit for victims and many organisations including those in the private sector will have to reexamine their safety standards.

    He praises the bipartisan tone in the chamber, noting "statements elsewhere have been unhelpful" - a possible reference to remarks by shadow chancellor John McDonnell.

    Lib Dem spokesperson Baroness Pinnock joins calls for the leader of Kensington and Chelsea council to resign, saying she can't believe he's remained in post.

    She asks how the survivors are going to be cared for in the future, given they may require support for some time to come.

    She also wants to know how the government will pay the "enormous cost" of re-cladding unsafe buildings.

    Labour's local government spokesman, Lord Kennedy, calls on the leader of Kensington and Chelsea council to resign immediately.

    He urges that we never again "hear any nonsense about red tape and health and safety regulations".

    He accuses the government of giving the "wrong kind of attention" to social housing and says he hopes this will be a turning point.

    A stretch of coastline where five young friends died is a beach with "hidden dangers", an inquest has heard.

    The inquest heard the two brothers, Ken, 18, and Kobi Saththiyanathan, 22, died at Camber Sands last August were both good swimmers.

    A pathologist told the Hastings inquest the two brothers, who lived in Erith, had both drowned.

    The family's lawyer Patrick Roche said said they were "keen for lessons to be learned" and that no-one else suffers the same appalling tragedy."

    Brexit and the UK's hung parliament should not hold up crucial projects such as the expansion of Heathrow Airport, the government's top infrastructure adviser has said.

    There must be a limit to the "dither and delay", said Lord Adonis, head of the National Infrastructure Commission.

    He told the BBC that Brexit meant the UK had to be "open for business".

    The government approved a third runway at Heathrow last October, but it was not mentioned in the Queen's Speech.

    A British holidaymaker who saw a blue shark swimming in shallow waters while he was staying in Majorca says he was "more excited than scared".

    Tim Prottey-Jones said his wife Angela was getting into the sea at Illetas beach on the Spanish island on Saturday when the shark appeared.

    It swam past "calmly, perhaps eerily calmly", but was "an amazing sight".

    Mr Prottey-Jones, from London, said people rushed out of the sea but got back in again some 25 minutes later.

    "We had been on the beach all morning because it was extremely hot and we wanted to leave it as long as possible to enter the water and cool off."
