Comedian Bill Bailey has appealed for help to find the family dog after it went missing in west London.

Pablo the "pineapple-sized" chihuahua was last seen in Hammersmith Grove last Sunday, Bailey said.

He tweeted a photo of the "much-loved" pooch on Wednesday evening in a bid to track Pablo down.

Police have issued a fresh appeal as part of their investigation into a man who shot dead in north London.

Bulent Kabala, 41, died after being shot in the head and chest in Barnet on 12 February.

A 30-year-old man, a serving prisoner, was arrested today on suspicion of conspiring with others to commit murder. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Police officers said they believe they know who supplied the Ford Transit van that was used in the murder, but are appealing to the public to help discover the van's movements before the shooting.

The Met has issued photos of tools - thought to have been stolen - which were found in the back of the van.

Anyone who recognises the tools should contact the police.

Falling London house prices have helped drag annual growth in UK property values down to a five-year-low, according to official figures.

House prices in London fell by 0.7% annually in July - the biggest tumble there since September 2009 when there was a 3.2% decline, according to figures released jointly by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the Land Registry and other bodies.

The report said London has shown a general slowdown in its annual property price growth rate since mid-2016 - hitting a recent peak of 14.8% in March that year.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is in danger of being "abused" by people calling ambulances in non-emergency situations, a doctor has said in response to a new poll about calling 999.

One in three people out of 1,000 Londoners who were polled said they would call an ambulance in a non-emergency situation because they did not know what else to do, according to a report by the London Assembly's health committee.

One in 10 people in the capital said they would call an emergency ambulance if their child got their hand stuck in a jam jar, while more than half of 18 to 24-year-olds would call an ambulance in a non-emergency situation if they had no other way to get someone to hospital.

Despite this, 56% of people said they strongly agreed with the statement "I know when to call an ambulance".

Dr Onkar Sahota, chairman of the London Assembly committee which is looking into the future of LAS, said people need a better understanding of the various ways to access healthcare.

"The 999 system can be abused by those with spurious issues but it also has to cover for problems in other parts of the healthcare system," he added.

"We all need to work together to make the best use of our precious ambulance service resources."

LAS chief executive Garrett Emmerson added: "The latest poll of Londoners shows we need to remind people, of all ages, to use us wisely and only call 999 in a genuine emergency.

"We are delighted that the survey shows that the overwhelming majority of Londoners have confidence in us and think our staff do an excellent job."

British handbag and homeware retailer Orla Kiely has announced that it is closing its stores and website.

Orla Kiely ceased to trade as of 17 September as its parent company, Kiely Rowan, has gone into administration.

The retailer's stores in London's King's Road and Seven Dials, and Kildare in Ireland, have closed.

However, Orla Kiely Home and Design-branded accessories and homeware will continue to be sold through distribution partners.

"Thank you for embracing our brand and designs throughout the years and for your ongoing support," said the brand, which is known for itsvintage 1970s-inspired prints.

There are delays on the District line after a security alert led Richmond station to be cordoned off.

The station was made exit-only for a short time this afternoon as the British Transport Police and other members of the emergency services closed off the area.

Specialist teams assessed an item found at the station and decided it was not suspicious.

The cordon has now been lifted but there are knock-on delays on the Tube.

Zara and Mike Tindall hopped on to bicycles to launch a charity ride raising awareness and funds for ocean conservation.

The couple set off on the first leg of the Blue Marine Foundation's (Blue) third annual London-to-Monaco cycle ride, pedalling from Herne Hill Velodrome in south London to Dover.

They joined more than 100 cyclists who are taking part in the seven-day challenge that aims to raise funds to help Blue's aim of protecting vast tracts of the world's oceans.

The Queen's granddaughter said: "Our oceans are constantly under threat and it's for that reason that we are joining 100 brave cyclists in raising awareness around vital marine conservation projects like Blue's so that they can receive the funding and support they need."

Blue was established in 2010 and is dedicated to creating marine reserves and establishing sustainable models of fishing.

Its mission is the active and effective protection of 10% of the world's oceans by 2020 and 30% by 2030.

Failed and fleeing business have left the City with a trail of millions in unpaid rates that the corporation running the Square Mile has been forced to write off.

The City of London Corporation’s finance committee agreed to write off £2.6m in irrecoverable non-domestic rates racked up by 33 companies and two individuals over the years since 2012.

In one case, a landlord racked up a bill of £1.76 million in unpaid empty property rates, a report to the committee said.

They were told the unnamed landlord was in receivership by the time they took a building back from tenants, and the property was sold when the ratepayer was unable to pay their mortgage.

They subsequently went into liquidation proceedings and their business was dissolved.

A man has been charged with murder after another man was shot dead in Tottenham Cemetery.

Ismail Tanrikulu, 22, was found with fatal wounds at the north London cemetery on 3 September.

Musa Duru, 21, of Great Cambridge Road, Tottenham, was charged this morning after being arrested yesterday.

He has been remanded to appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later today.

London Assembly members have said there is a "worrying lack of detail" in the London mayor's new strategy for tackling violent crime.

Sadiq Khan has set up a Violence Reduction Unit to treat violence in the capital like a public health issue.

But Steve O’Connell, chairman of the Assembly's police and crime committee, voiced concerns about the initiative which "has been a long time coming".

“We commend the mayor for finally recognising that a broader approach which addresses the causes of violence is needed to halt the scourge of violent crime, in all its forms, that is blighting our city," he said.

"Communities need to be involved for this type of approach to work and London is very complex," Mr O'Connell added.

“However, there is a worrying lack of detail as to how this unit will operate across such a vast area as the whole of London.

"We will be keeping a close eye on whether this new plan has an impact on the ground and does not end up a missed opportunity.”
