Today marks 50 years since the Beatles played their last ever gig - on a rooftop in Savile Row on a cold Thursday lunchtime.
On 30 January 1969, the Fab Four and keyboardist Billy Preston headed outside with a film crew at their central London headquarters for 42 minutes, playing hits including Get Back, Don’t Let Me Down and I’ve Got A Feeling.
The noise from the performance attracted both workers on their lunchtime, as well as the police.
Former Met officer Ken Wharfe, was on duty in Piccadilly Circus at the time when he was ordered to head to the building to get the band to turn the noise down.
He previously told the BBC he "was amazed at just how many people were just standing on roof tops away beyond Bond Street, over by the Royal Academy."
“I think any member of the police that had tried to stop this concert would have been launched from the roof, quite frankly.”
The footage, external, which includes Ringo Starr wearing his wife's bright orange coat to keep warm and John Lennon telling fans "I'd like to say, 'thank you' on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition!", was used in the 1970 documentary film Let it Be.
These days, you're unlikely to come across any surprise rooftop concerts if you're near 3 Savile Row - the building is now an upmarket children's clothes store.
