    A medieval church near Great Yarmouth is to receive £22,000 from the Coastal Revival Fund, external to help its conservation.

    The ruins of the 13th Century church in the centre of Hopton are currently a dangeorus structure and are hidden behind a security fence.

    The funding will allow volunteers, with the help of experts, to work on its conservation.

  2. A11 dualling 'boosts business'published at 11:56

    Businesses have been helped by the dualling of the A11, completed a year ago.

    Colin Wright, managing director of Britannia Safety, external in Wymondham, says business is up by 15% since the new road opened, extending the company's catchment area by another 30 miles.

    A Christmas tree is being removed from a church display after the vicar considered it to be in bad taste.

    Images of graves were hung on the tree at Great Yarmouth Minster, and next to it was a box containing earth and what appeared to be human foot bones, labelled "RIP Victor Meldrew", a reference to the TV sitcom One Foot in the Grave.

    Various parts of a medical skeleton were also included in the display. The tree is one of 60 on display at the church.

  5. 'Bones' Christmas tree removed from church festival on taste groundspublished at 11:07

    A vicar has asked for a Christmas tree decorated with "bones" to be removed from a display at Great Yarmouth Minister, external, as he considers it in bad taste.

    The tree, decorated by Friends of Great Yarmouth Cemeteries, is one of 60 on display at the church.

    But the Reverend Chris Terry think it's gone too far, and volunteers are now removing the display.

    I've been told that a deal is to be completed today that will see the Great Yarmouth Port Compan, externaly sold.

    My sources tell me that Peel Ports, external, the owners of the Port of Liverpool, will take over. The company boasts a strong interest in the "energy products" market.

    Neither company is confirming or denying that they've been thrashing out a deal.  However, speculation that Peel Ports will take over is being welcomed by many port businesses and watchers, who say Peel will fight to win work for Great Yarmouth. 

  7. Norwich gig was 'highlight of the year' says Taylor Swiftpublished at 10:48

    One of the world's biggest pop stars has thanked Norwich for making her year.

    Taylor Swift made the comment last night as she was crowned International Artist of the Year at the BBC Music Awards.

    Speaking on a video message from Austrialia where she's currently on tour, Ms Swift said the highlight of her year was playing the Big Weekend in Norwich in May.

  9. King's Lynn Stars bring back popular Danepublished at 09:45

    King's Lynn Stars , externalhave re-signed Mads Korneliussen for the 2016 Elite League speedway season. 

    The Dane was a huge favourite with Stars fans during a previous three-year spell at the Norfolk Arena.

    Korneliussen becomes the fifth member of the Lynn line-up for next season to be confirmed after Rory Schlein, Robert Lambert, Troy Batchelor and Lewis Rose.

    I'm at the Norwich City press conference, and Alex Neil has just confirmed that Wes Hoolahan will be in the squad for tomorrow's home game against Everton.

    But there are no clues as to who'll be in goal.

  11. Drop in number of crashes following road upgradepublished at 08:30

    The number of accidents on the A11 has dropped dramatically since dualling work was completed a year ago.

    The number of collisions on the road, which runs through Norfolk and Suffolk, has fallen by 80% between 2010 and 2015, from 115 to 23.

    The last nine miles between Thetford and Barton Mills was completed in December 2014 at a cost of £134m.
