  1. Pub removes foie gras from menu over 'death threats'published at 11:23

    A pub has removed foie gras from its Valentine's menu because of what it claims were death threats to staff from "vegan activists".

    The King's Arms , externalat Fleggburgh claims staff received the threats via the phone and social media, but police say no direct threats were made.

    Foie gras is a traditional liver pate, made by force-feeding corn to ducks or geese.

  2. Photo: Dead whale now at Sheringham and 'it absolutely reeks'published at 11:04

    The dead minke whale that washed up at Weybourne overnight has now been carried along the coast to Sheringham, where it has washed up again.

    This photo was taken near groynes at Sheringham and Shaun says the whale "absolutely reeks".

  3. Road crashes keep Norfolk Fire Service busypublished at 10:58

    Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, external says it now responds to four times more road traffic collisions than house fires.

    Last year the service said the the number of fires in 2015 the home amounted to 6% of call-outs while road traffic crashes accounted for just over 26%.

    Stuart Horth, head of community safety, says unfortunately people are still driving at "inappropriate speeds for the conditions".

  5. Dead minke whale washed out to seapublished at 10:23

    A minke whale carcass, initially thought to be a giant squid, washed up at Weybourne has now been washed out to sea.

    The creature, spotted on the beach overnight, is now thought to have been carried out by the high tide, with coastguards at Humber saying it has been seen in the sea at Sheringham.   

    The rotting carcass was first found a couple of weeks ago further along the coast at Salthouse.

    The latest sea animal carcass to wash up on the Norfolk coast has been identified as a minke whale - dashing hopes it could explain a recent spate of whale strandings.

    Norfolk Cetaceans, external received reports of the find at Weybourne on Tuesday night. It was initially thought to be a giant squid which could help explain why a pod of sperm whales had become trapped in the North Sea while chasing food.

    Carl Chapman, Norfolk cetacean recorder said: "There is a species of 20ft giant squid which could have matched this description and would have gone a long way to explaining the current situation with the sperm whales.

    A local diver has added his voice to those confirming the dead creature that washed up on Weybourne beach overnight is a minke whale and not a giant squid.

    Local people had at first thought the creature was a giant squid because of tentacle-like parts protruding from its body.

    Rob Spray says giant squid, external are found in the Pacific Ocean, but that if had been a giant squid it may have explained why sperm whales have been found in the North Sea since the whales feed on them.

    The A47 has been closed at Brundall after a collision involving a motorcyclist.

    The road is shut westbound and there's congestion to the Yarmouth Road junction.

    A dead mammal that washed up on the beach at Weybourne overnight is not a giant squid but a minke whale, according to marine experts Norfolk Cetaceans, external.

    Norfolk cetacean recorder Carl Chapman says the carcass is a dead minke that washed up at Salthouse some time ago and was moved a couple of miles along the coast to Weybourne by the tide.

    Nicholas Hamond Academy, external in Swaffham is closed today because of a small fire in its science area.

    The fire service is there and the blaze is under control, but students have been told to stay at home.

    Three appliances from Swaffham, Kings Lynn South and Watton attended the fire on Brandon Road.

    The coastguard has had a report of a dead whale overnight.

    It's unclear whether the creature that's washed up on the shore at Weybourne is a minke whale or a giant squid.

    Attempts to identify the creature are under way by local marine experts.
