    A 29-year-old man from Dover has been arrested in connection with a cyber attack on Norwich Airport’s website last year and is being held for questioning in Kent.

    The man was arrested in Dover on Thursday night and is being held on suspicion of computer hacking - that is "unauthorised acts to impair operation of a computer", police said. 

    The incident happened in early October 2015 and the airport responded by putting the warning above on its website while an investigation was carried out by the Norfolk & Suffolk Cyber and Serious Crime Department, external.

    Archdeacon of Norwich, the Venerable Jan McFarlane, is leaving Norfolk to become the ninth female bishop in the Church of England.

    She is to be consecrated Bishop of Repton in Derbyshire on June 29 by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

    The Archdeacon, who is also director of communications for the Diocese of Norwich, external, said: "It will be very hard indeed to leave Norfolk where I have spent 16 very happy years working alongside first-rate colleagues both in the church and in the local media."

    Wroxham, external have signed King's Lynn Town, external striker Liam Fryatt to help their fight against relegation from the Ryman League. 

    Fryatt has signed dual registration terms meaning he can play for both The Yachtstmen and The Linnets for the rest of the season.

    MPs, business leaders and councillors are to hold a "summit meeting" with Network Rail executives in Norfolk today in a bid to press for a swift start to improvements at Ely North Junction now scheduled to start between 2019 and 2024.

    The junction is key to rail services in East Anglia connecting Norwich, King's Lynn, Cambridge, London, Ipswich and the Midlands but part of the route is single-line operation. 

    Colin Sampson, the chairman of the Fen Line Users Association, external, said the single-track bottleneck prevented traffic growth and that he hoped the meeting in Downham Market would help bring forward the start from 2019.

    A man is still being questioned after a stand-off involving armed police in Gorleston that closed a road for nearly 12 hours yesterday.

    Armed police were called to a house in Viking Road at 10:30 after reports of suspicious devices inside the building and nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. 

    A man in his 40s was arrested later in Lowestoft in connection with the incident and the house remained sealed off until 21:00.

    A charity that feeds the homeless in the centre of Norwich two evenings a week is worried that red tape could end its work.

    During an informal visit by city council, external food inspectors, The People's Picnic, which serves home-cooked food at the Haymarket (pictured), was told it was subject to safety regulations like any other organisation.

    The council said it wanted to support the volunteers.

    King's Lynn Stars, external have named a line-up of nine riders for their 2016 Elite League speedway campaign.

    German Kai Huckenbeck has agreed to join the club after impressing during a practice session at the Norfolk Arena.

    The 23-year old will be a team mate of Niels-Kristian Iversen after the former Stars number one agreed to return on a temporary basis to fill in for the injured Troy Batchelor.

    The vice-chairman of the Broads Authority, external navigation committee has been ousted in a vote of no confidence and a replacement immediately appointed.

    James Knight was accused of not fulfilling his role and duties and members were concerned he was not adopting the interests of the public generally and not taking collective responsibility for authority decisions.

    Nicky Talbot was unanimously appointed as the new vice-chairman and committee chairman Michael Whittaker said Mr Knight's behaviour had appeared to undermine issues the authority was dealing with.
