The numbers of Bewick's swans, external arriving at Welney are significantly down this year - because of a mild winter in eastern Europe, which means they aren't leaving yet.
The most recent December count has revealed that 147 of the breed have migrated from Siberia in Russia to the Ouse Washes in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, where there are usually about 1,000 at this time of year.
The Netherlands also has lower numbers than usual and Dutch swan experts say the swans are finding more food throughout Europe, so they continue feeding up rather than pushing on with their migration.

Norwich City Football Club's managing director Steve Stone is urging authorities to reconsider the rules on allowing fans to stand at matches.
Clubs in the top two divisions have been required to have all-seater stadiums since the Taylor report into the Hillsborough disaster.
The Canaries are moving all fans under the age of 16 out of Block A of the Barclay because of safety concerns caused by the number of supporters standing up during games.
Steve Stone told me: "It's too difficult to stop fans from standing across the country but they are not necessarily standing in the safest environment.
"If safe standing becomes legal I think many clubs will take up the opportunity."

Norwich City Football Club is moving fans under the age of 16 out of block A of the Barclay Stand following issues with supporters standing during games.
The club had been told by a Safety Advisory Group that the block would be closed because of concerns about the number of young fans standing on seats. Instead a compromise has been reached which will allow the area of the stand to remain open.
About 50 supporters with season tickets in Block A are being moved. That includes 31 under the age of 16 and the adults they attend games with. Anyone affected will receive a letter from the club.
Managing director Steve Stone told me: "This is not something we want to do but it's got to a point where we've got an unacceptable level of risk to kids."
