The council said the move was in order to protect tenants who were sick, self-isolating or suffering from financial hardship as a result of the virus.
Councillor Richard Johnson, executive councillor for housing at the Labour-run authority, external, said: "The council remains committed to continuing its financial support services to our most vulnerable residents who are affected during this time.
“We are working hard to operate a service which is as near as possible to ‘business as usual’ for these customers."
Tenants in need of support were invited to call the council on 01223 457000 to discuss their concerns.

Two patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Hertfordshire.
The patients passed away at Watford General Hospital on Sunday.
A spokesperson for West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust said the patients were a woman in her 80s and a man in his 70s and "both had underlying health conditions".

Bus services are being cut across Suffolk because of the reduced number of people using them during the coronavirus crisis.
The county council, external said some staff were self-isolating and this was reducing the number of people available to work.
The Ipswich park and ride service, run by First, external, will be suspended from Wednesday, said the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS)
Anyone using other public transport should check with their service provider for latest timetables, said councillor Andrew Reid.
"We are doing all that we can to help keep vital services going for those who must travel – our key workers and elderly and vulnerable residents," he added.
"The changes to timetables aim to balance the reduced levels of passenger usage as people follow the new instructions to stay at home with the need to reduce the number of people required to run transport services."

A pub chain based in Hertford has donated all of its remaining stock to those in need.
McMullen closed all of its 124 pubs, external, which are mainly in Hertfordshire, following advice from the government on Friday.
Rather than letting its stock go to waste, the pubs donated food to police, NHS workers, firefighters, care homes, homeless shelters and the elderly.
While they may not be working as usual, staff have been volunteering in the community by offering to walk dogs or collect shopping for those in need.
