    It's the new branding for the former Capital FM Arena that's becoming the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.

    The Capital FM Arena is changing its name again.

    Its sponsorship deal with Capital FM has come to an end and it's signed a new deal with Motorpoint.

    From 1 January it will become the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.

  4. Thunderbirds and Star Wars memorabilia stolenpublished at 12:51

    Police have released information about a burglary, external in Mansfield over the weekend where thieves stole boxes of Thunderbirds and Star Wars Memorabilia.

    They broke into the garage sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning by damaging the cable that holds the door. 

    A small tree cropper, car CD stereo, various tools and a cordless drill were also stolen.

    The Local Government Association (LGA) has criticised a study by the RAC Foundation.

    They've described the study as "misleading" and insisted surplus money is spent on transport projects.

    This should interest you if you often drive into the city.

    Nottingham City Council made a profit of £13.3m from parking charges, external over the last 12 months according to a study by the RAC Foundation.

    That's the ninth highest in the UK.

    It's thought local authorities across all of England made £693m more than what they needed to from car parking in 2014/15.

    That's up from £667m in the previous 12 months.

  7. Beeston awaiting new Christmas treepublished at 11:40

    The tale of the leaning tree of Beeston is a sad sight. 

    Broxtowe Borough Council says vandals took the 35ft high tree’s supports and that, together with strong winds, meant the tree had to be taken down on Friday.

    There was a warning it would be difficult to find a new one in the festive season but the council says a new tree will be put in place today.

    This made me smile this morning.

    A turkey called Dinner who lives at Stonebridge City Farm in St Ann's could be the oldest and luckiest turkey in Britain.

    Dinner has managed to avoid becoming "Christmas dinner" for 15 years. 

    That could be a record.

  9. Anger over amendment to devolution billpublished at 10:55

    More on devolution for the East Midlands now... The letter, signed by Nottinghamshire's Alan Rhodes and Derbyshire's Ann Western, criticises a new amendment to the government's devolution bill, allowing outlying areas such as Bassetlaw to spurn the East Midlands in favour of neighbouring South Yorkshire.

    Meanwhile the leader of Nottingham City Council, Jon Collins, has told BBC Radio Nottingham that some MPs, who don't like the idea of an elected mayor, are privately briefing against the deal.

    Also in the word of football... former Forest striker Nigel Clough has been confirmed as the new manager of Burton Albion.

    The 49-year-old, sacked by Sheffield United in May, succeeds Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who has taken over at Championship club QPR.

    Clough was first appointed as Burton player-boss in October 1998 at the age of 32, and left the club 13 points clear at the top of the Conference. He rejoins the Brewers at the top of the third tier.  

  11. Coaker: Conditions and mental health issues slow army recruitmentpublished at 10:25

    Back now to that story on army recruitment figures.

    The Labour MP for Gedling, Vernon Coaker, who is also the former shadow defence minister has been talking about why he thinks recruitment figures for the army are struggling.

    He says: "There is a concern about the way soldiers are treated, the attitude survey shows a considerable drop in the number of soldiers satisfied with the conditions they live in.  

    "Alongside that, you've also got the stories of mental health problems when people have left the service. I think that has had an impact as well."

    Other news to tell you about today is how the leaders of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire County Council have written a letter to the government about the "unacceptable delays" in devolving greater powers to the East Midlands.

    The Labour leader of Nottingham City Council is accusing local MPs of privately opposing the deal.

    Back now to that story on struggling army recruitment figures.

    The head of recruitment for the army has admitted they need to adapt their message to attract enough people. It's after figures revealed they've failed to recruit the amount of people expected for nine out of the last 10 years.

    BBC Radio Nottingham spoke to one woman in Nottingham city centre, who said she had never considered a career in the army because she's a creative person and claims there is nothing creative to do in the army.

    Another person we spoke to said we should solve the problem by bringing back national service.
