Final approval has been given to hand ten of Derby's 15 libraries over to volunteers.
The shake-up, external - aimed at saving the city council £700,000 a year - will also see Derby's Central Library relocated from its current Wardwick base to the Council House on Corporation Street.
It will mean the loss of 46 jobs - 39 library staff and seven cleaners.
The 10 libraries set to be managed by volunteers are Chellaston, Sinfin, Chaddesden, Blagreaves, Allestree, Allenton, Mackworth, Spondon, Springwood and Derwent.
The council will run Central Library (to be renamed Riverside LIbrary after its move), Local Studies Library, Alvaston, Pear Tree and Mickleover.
The building currently housing Derby's Central Library will be handed to Derby Museums Trust and may be used as a space for events.
