    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class B drugs after a raid in Chesterfield.

    Derbyshire Police said they found cannabinoids believed to be the substance Mamba at a house on St Margaret's Drive on Thursday.

    The men, aged 41 and 20, were arrested at the scene, and drugs and money were seized by officers.

    Former Leicester City and Derby County boss Nigel Pearson has a new job - he's been appointed head coach of Belgian side OH Leuven.

    The second division club is owned by Thai tycoon Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who also owns Leicester City.

  3. Robin Hood Marathon: Runner gears up for 1,000th marathonpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 22 September 2017

    This Sunday hundreds of runners will be taking part in the Robin Hood Marathon around Nottingham, but for one man it will be an extra special occasion.

    Rory Coleman will be running in his 1,000th marathon, and it comes just 18 months after the 55-year-old feared he'd never run again after contracting Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which left him in a wheelchair.

    He'll be running the race alongside his wife Jen, an ultra-marathon veteran, and his daughter Hannah, who'll be taking part in her first-ever marathon.

    Rory, who's now based in Cardiff but lived in Long Eaton for many years, has been running an average of 43 marathons for the last 23 years, has also run 244 ultra marathons and has completed the infamous Marathon des Sables, a 156-mile race through the Moroccan desert, 14 times.

    Nottingham's route is one of his favourites, though, and he said he was glad to reach the milestone in the city.

    Derbyshire's county championship fixture against Kent has been abandoned, external without a ball being bowled.

    Heavy rain in the build-up to the match at Chesterfield's Queen's Park left many parts of the field under water and the game was officially called off at 09:00 on what should have been the fourth day of play.

    The game will be recorded as a draw, with both teams awarded five points.

    Some taxi drivers in Derby have admitted they are concerned the arrival of Uber in the city could hurt trade.

    The ride-booking service was officially launched in Derby yesterday afternoon after establishing itself in more than 40 other cities across the UK and Ireland.

    Cabbie Ali Hussain told BBC Radio Derby: "We're already struggling. We don't have much work at the moment and this will make us struggle more.

    "We've got mortgages to pay, car finance to pay. Yes, I am concerned about Uber."

    It's getting to the business end of the cricket season now, and Nottinghamshire fans will hope their side can get over the line and ensure promotion from the County Championship Division Two today.

    They play at Northamptonshire knowing that a draw will be enough, and as things stand they need 207 more runs to win the match outright.

    Notts will have to beware of Rory Kleinveldt, who's taken 11-88 so far in this match.

    A consultation has started into whether a county council-run care home should be closed in Derbyshire due to the rising cost of repairs.

    The authority says Hazelwood, in Cotmanhay, provides good quality care for its 25 elderly residents.

    However with estimations of building refurbishment costs of up to £1.7m, the council is gauging opinion on proposals to close the residential home and move residents elsewhere.

    Nottingham's official 'keeper of clocks' is retiring today after 32 years in the job.

    David Lyon, 75, has been manually winding up the Council House clock, above Little John, once a week since 1985.

    He also keeps other prominent clocks around the city running on time - including St Peter's Church (pictured) - as well as looking after his own clock and watch repairing business.

    The Lord Mayor of Nottingham Mike Edwards has thanked Mr Lyon for his years of dedication. Smith of Derby will now take over his duties.

    A homeless charity has opened a new centre inside a former hosiery factory in Leicester

    The Bridge's new base, in Melton Street, will serve up to 10,000 meals each year to rough sleepers and vulnerable people as well as providing support services.

    The building was officially opened by Rebekah Vardy.

    English, maths and IT tests for Derby's taxi drivers have been scrapped.

    They were introduced by the city council in November to help improve passenger safety but drivers have complained the tests were harder than they needed to be.

    Several Notts fire stations could lose their full-time staff at night as part of a shake-up aimed at saving the service money.

    The plan would see three stations - most likely Ashfield, Retford and Worksop - covered by on-call retained firefighters from 18:00 to 06:00.

    The idea will be discussed by the city and county's fire and rescue authority today before it's decided whether it should move forward to a public consultation.
