    Leicester City boss Claude Puel has refused to be drawn on the future of defender Robert Huth.

    Huth, 33, hasn't featured for the first team this season after starting the campaign with an ankle problem.

    His contract, along with that of goalkeeper Ben Hamer, is due to expire this summer.

    Puel said: "He [Huth] has not had a lot of game time in this moment.

    "I understand it is difficult for him. We will see at the end of the season what will happen with Robert."

    Leicestershire Police has released more photos of their police dog puppies.

    Police dog Orla gave birth to five puppies on Saturday. The three girls and two boys arrived three days before their due date.

    She's said to be "incredibly protective" of her puppies and "won’t let anyone near them".

    It's the first time the force has bred a litter of police puppies.

    Orla had been about to become a fully licensed police dog when she injured her front leg.

    When her plaster cast was removed it revealed she wasn't able to work as an operational police dog.

    The football used in the 1953 FA Cup Final, made famous by the performance of Stanley Matthews, has sold at auction.

    The 18-panel ball fetched £5,250 at Hansons Auctioneers in Etwall, Derbyshire.

    The buyer, an anonymous Blackpool supporter, said he would be happy to loan the item to football museums.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman suffered "serious injuries" as she was hit by a car in Hucknall.

    The 37-year-old, was crossing the road in Papplewick Lane on Thursday 1 February, when she was struck by a black BMW.

    Police added that the car was heading towards Hucknall railway station.

    The pedestrian had surgery at the Queen's Medical Centre for her injuries and is currently in a stable condition.

    Nottinghamshire's air ambulance service has received a significant funding boost from a famous motor racing circuit.

    Staff at Cadwell Park, in Lincolnshire, have handed over £2,400 to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance following a number of fundraisers.

    Gemma Shaw, from the air ambulance, said: "Each donation puts us one step closer to our goal of being able to fund our service 24 hours a day.

    "Flying for more hours means we can help more people.

    "Every time our crew is dispatched, I picture the patient's family’s relief, knowing they are going to get the best pre-hospital critical care available to them."

    A six-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a Nottinghamshire village before later dying has been named as Daisy Dymyd.

    Daisy was found in Tuxford on Monday afternoon, before being airlifted to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she passed away.

    In a statement via Nottinghamshire Police, Daisy's family said: "Our beautiful daughter was the centre of our world and we can’t believe she’s gone.

    "She will be so missed by everyone that knew her. She was a such a happy little girl who lit up our lives and made the world brighter."

    Police added that no arrests have been made and a file has been passed to the coroner.

    The last 600 streetlights are now having their bulbs replaced with energy-saving LED ones.

    The £25m replacement programme has been carried out by the county council to cut carbon emissions and maintenance costs.

  15. M1 Newport Pagnell crash death trial: Jury sworn inpublished at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2018

    A jury has been sworn in for the trial of two men charged in connection with a crash on the M1 which killed eight people in a minibus.

    Ryszard Masierak, 31, of Evesham, Worcestershire, and David Wagstaff, 53, of Stoke-on-Trent, were both driving lorries on the southbound carriageway near Newport Pagnell when the crash happened in the early hours of 26 August.

    The minibus was travelling from Nottingham to London when its driver and seven passengers were killed.

    Both men face eight counts of causing death by dangerous driving and four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Mr Masierak is also facing drink driving charges.

    Judge Francis Sheridan told the 12-person jury to ignore anything they've read, heard or seen about the case.

    "You must decide the case on the evidence given in this courtroom and only on that evidence," he said.

    Plans have been unanimously approved for a new bus station at Nottingham's Broadmarsh Centre and a new multi-million pound college campus in the city.

    Councillors signed off the plans on Wednesday as part of the proposed £250m redevelopment of the whole Broadmarsh area., external

    Nottingham College said its new £58m hub would bring "something truly special" to the city.

    It will be built on land off Canal Street which is currently being used as a temporary car park and work is due to start this summer.

    The National Trust has said it has "no wish" for its land at Clumber Park to be the subject of a fracking survey.

    Petrochemical firm Ineos announced earlier its bid to find shale gas on the Grade I listed park near Worksop had been referred to the High Court by the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA).

    "We have no wish for our land to play any part in extracting gas or oil," a spokesperson for the National Trust said.

    "We are already seeing the impacts of climate change at many of our places, and we have launched a programme to dramatically cut our own fossil fuel usage at our properties.

    "We’re disappointed by the OGA’s decision but due to the legal status of the case we can’t comment any further at this stage."

    A Rutland veterinary hospital has begun using a new ultrasound technique to predict a racehorse’s likelihood of a return to racing after a tendon injury.

    The treatment at Oakham Veterinary Hospital has been developed by researchers at the University of Nottingham, Oakham Equine Hospital and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

    A scoring system has been created to grade tendon injuries and has been used in a large study to determine which ultrasound features will predict whether or not the horse will successfully race again.

    It's claimed this new system will significantly improve racehorse welfare by helping vets and racehorse trainers to make an informed decision on a horse’s future.

    A man has been remanded into custody after appearing in court charged in connection with the robbery of a 12-year-old girl in Derby.

    Patrik Gunar, 22, of Normanton, Derby, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court this morning.

    He is due to appear before Derby Crown Court on Thursday 15 March.
