    An 18-year-old man has been charged over a crash between a car and a bus, which ended with the bus hitting a house.

    The vehicles collided in Main Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent at about 23:35 on Saturday. There were no serious injuries.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the Fiesta driver, from West Bridgford, was charged with failing to stop after a road accident, failing to stop when required by an officer, driving with no licence and insurance.

    Three other teenagers inside the car were released with no further action.

    Those in the north of the East Midlands looked like they'd get away without snow earlier - but that's not the case any more.

    The Met Office has issued a second yellow weather warning for snow and ice which covers places such as Chesterfield between 12:00 tomorrow and 11:00 on Wednesday.

    An earlier weather warning covers the rest of the East Midlands - including Nottingham, Derby and Leicester.

    A wallaby who escaped from his enclosure last week was out "looking for a girlfriend", according to his owner.

    The three-year-old marsupial, named Wally, was seen hopping around the village of Wymondham, Leicestershire, having escaped through a fence when his owner Vernon Moore was taking the bins out on Thursday.

    Mr Moore said: "He's an adolescent wallaby and they only really go off to look for a girlfriend.

    "We're going to get a female wallaby in which hopefully will mean he will stay put in the future."

    While Wally spent most of his time near the enclosure, he was reportedly seen grazing on the village green and outside The Berkeley Arms pub, which saw the police get involved to help get him home.

    Wally was eventually coaxed back into his enclosure with food yesterday.

    The Highways Agency has confirmed that the sign, spotted on the A52 near Bramcote, was put there in error and will be removed.

    MistaJam claims a listener said it would be funny if one of his daughters were abused because of one of his song choices.

    The Nottingham-born Radio One Xtra DJ has now told his 203,000 followers he will leave Twitter because of their response to him, as first reported by The Nottingham Post, external.

    He claims they told him there was "no violation of the Twitter Rules against abusive behavior". He responded by saying "That's me gone from here" on Wednesday and he hasn't tweeted since.

    When approached for a comment, a spokeswoman for Twitter said they do not comment on individual accounts "for privacy and security reasons".

    The full inquest has started into the death of a 13-year-old girl found hanged after a three-day search in Mansfield.

    In May 2015 Amber Peat reportedly left the family home in the Nottinghamshire town following a dispute about chores. Police found her body three days later in bushes.

    Forensic pathologist Dr Frances Hollingbury told the inquest that Amber’s cause of death was hanging but could not say whether or not she had intended to die.

    There were no signs of physical neglect or malnourishment.

    A statement from a toxicologist said there was no evidence Amber had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of her death.

    The RSPCA says the discovery of a dead cat in a carrier bag at a park in Derbyshire is being linked to a similar find in the same place a few weeks ago.

    A dog walker came across the Aldi bag in a wooded area near Riddings Park Community Centre on Saturday morning.

    The cat, which was not microchipped, had blood around its face and ears.

    Another cat was found dead in a Tesco carrier bag in the same woodland in November.

    RSPCA inspector Rachel Leafe said: "It seems too much of a coincidence that both cats have been found dead in a carrier bag and in the same area.

    “Obviously we don’t know if in both cases the cat’s owner simply dumped their bodies once they had died but it seems a very unusual thing to do and I do have concerns that as we have had two similar incidents, something more sinister could be going on.”

    New research claims Leicester has been the East Midlands city hardest hit by cuts to local government spending over the past decade.

    The report by the Centre for Cities, external looked at council spending in large urban areas.

    It said, while authorities have been able to make do with less by becoming more efficient, reductions in funding and the increase in demand for social care have meant cuts to other services.

    A 16-year-old tried to kill herself when a woman was blackmailing her with indecent pictures she had sent her online, police said.

    Shilpa Uga, now 26, contacted a girl on social media in 2014, posing as a 21-year-old man and asking for pictures. She then threatened to share the images unless her victim gave her large amounts of cash.

    Uga, of Pine Tree Avenue, Leicester, pictured left, admitted blackmail and five counts of possession, making and distribution of indecent images of a child. She was jailed at Leicester Crown Court for three years on Friday.

    The blackmail was only discovered after the teen tried to kill herself.

    The images were shared with Jatin Gohil, 28, of Leicester. He pleaded guilty to putting someone in fear of violence and seven counts of possession, making and distribution of indecent images of a child.

    He was also given three years in prison and both are now on the sex offenders register.

    Leicestershire County Cricket Club have appointed a new chief executive.

    Karen Rothery joins the club after careers at the British Universities and College Sport and Surrey Sports Park at The University of Surrey.

    She's no stranger to the area though - she grew up in Enderby, went to school in Lutterworth and university in Loughborough.
