    A Labour MP has said it's "possible" The Independent Group of MPs, which broke away from Labour yesterday, is supported by Israel.

    Ruth George, who represents High Peak, made the comments on Facebook after being asked to join in a debate.

    Ruth George wrote: "Support from the State of Israel, which supports both Conservative and Labour 'Friends of Israel', of which Luciana [Berger] was chair, is possible and I would not condemn those who suggest it, especially when the group's financial backers are not being revealed.

    "It's important for democracy to know the financial backers for any political group or policy."

    The MP has not yet responded to the BBC's request for comment.

    A Hungarian man has been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after 12 people were found in the back of a lorry he was driving.

    Police closed two lanes of the M1 northbound this morning to deal with it, causing long tailbacks from J20 shortly before 10:00.

    The air ambulance was also called and both sides of the motorway were closed to allow it to land. Police have now handed the investigation over to immigration services.

    Police have released an image of a man who has been wanted for recall to prison for over two years.

    Scott Harris, 43, has been off Derbyshire Police's radar since 3 February 2017, when he broke the terms of his parole by missing appointments.

    A police spokeswoman said he was originally imprisoned for assault.

    He is described as white, approximately 6ft tall and tattooed.

    He is from Castle Gresley, Derbyshire, but has connections to Humberside, North Lincolnshire and Cleethorpes. Anyone who sees him should call police on 101.

    Notts County owner Alan Hardy says interest has "flooded in" from potential buyers of the club.

    Hardy, who put Notts up for sale in January, says he has held positive talks with interested parties.

    He has also announced the resignation of director Paul Mace "to help with the takeover process."

    The death of a man whose body was found at a property in Mansfield Woodhouse is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

    The man's body was found in Slant Lane on Sunday morning.

    His death was initially treated as unexplained but Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that is no longer the case.

    A spokesman added a file is being prepared for the coroner.

    Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance with Derbyshire Police, who said no-one has been injured.

    An officer was injured and two force vehicles were damaged after police chased down three men following a burglary at a Wetherspoon pub in Sherwood, external.

    Nottinghamshire Police said one car was rammed and another was attacked with a sledgehammer as officers detained the trio following a break-in at The Samuel Hall in Mansfield Road shortly after 04:00 this morning.

    The men, aged 33, 37 and 50, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

    A Taser was used to arrest the 37-year-old and the 50-year-old was also detained on suspicion of dangerous driving.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the police officer suffered minor injuries.

    Four teenagers have been arrested, external following a burglary in Nottingham.

    A car, jewellery and bank cards were taken during the raid in Cedar Road, Forest Fields, on Sunday.

    Police said an 18-year-old man, two girls aged 17 and 14, and a 14-year-old boy were detained on suspicion of burglary after a vehicle failed to stop in the Clifton area yesterday.

    An otter cub has been found huddled in a shop doorway in Mansfield.

    A passerby discovered the frightened four-month-old in Church Street on Wednesday.

    The female cub is now in the care of the RSPCA and is likely to stay with the charity for eight months before being released back into the wild.

    Inspector Deborah Scotcher said: "We can only assume that she was moving with her mum along the River Maun when they got separated, and somehow the cub ended up amongst all the shops.

    "There is so much traffic and it’s such a built-up area, she is very lucky to not have been hit by a car."

    A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg, external during an altercation at a house in Alvaston last night.

    It happened in Holtlands Drive at about 23:30.

    Police said the wound was minor but the teenager remains in hospital. The force has appealed for witnesses.

    Two men were arrested at a McDonald's in Derby last night in connection with a burglary which happened earlier that evening.

    Police were called to reports of a burglary at a commerical premises in Luke Lane, Brailsford, at 21:15, and later spotted a vehicle linked to the break-in parked at the fast food outlet in Markeaton.

    Officers pulled the vehicle over after it left the car park at 21:48 and two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

    A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on the A46 this morning.

    Police were called to the crash involving a van and a lorry near Colston Bassett at 05:30 this morning.

    One man was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre by ambulance.

    A union says it's still unclear if members will keep their jobs following the collapse of the East Midlands-based airline Flybmi.

    The airline cancelled flights and called in administrators BDO over the weekend.

    Paresh Patel, from Unite, said: "We don't know if our members are going to get paid as a result of this, we don't know if they're going to have jobs in the long term,

    "So for us it's a serious issue and we want to get around the table with the administrators to address those issues and understand what we're dealing with."
