Health bosses have apologised for "confusing residents" by sending a letter suggesting that staff living in hospital accommodation near to Leicester General would have to pay to park on their own driveways.

The letter, which the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust said was sent out in error, came days after Hospital Close residents received another letter saying that they would be evicted from their homes earlier than they originally thought because the properties were "below an acceptable standard".

People living in the UHL owned properties said the letters arrived at a time when they were already distressed having not been given any indication as to when they would have to leave their homes.

Concerns are growing about the fate of a British climber, who is missing on one of the world's highest mountains with his Italian colleague.
