Less than four months after low waters revealed the abandoned village of Derwent, which was flooded in the 1940s, the Ladybower Reservoir is overflowing.
The drowned village was visible in November following an exceptionally dry and hot summer but as this picture shows, recent heavy rainfall has seen the reservoir fill back up, spilling over its bellmouth.
The reservoir was built between 1935 and 1943 to help serve the growing cities of Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester with water.

The leader of Nottingham City Council announced his resignation by tweeting an interview with LeftLion, external.
In it, he explained why he quit, saying political leaders shouldn't "hang on to power until the bitter end", like "our national politicians".
He stressed he wasn't leaving because of the Labour Party's leadership but because he is getting older.
"I want to go out at a time that suits me, which is now," he said. "I’ve decided that there are other things I’d like to do, places to explore and mountains to climb."
Asked what he regretted not achieving, he said the rough sleeping figures "upset him" and he would have tried to regenerate the city with big projects earlier.
He will be stepping down at the local elections in May. He ended the interview: "It’s been an honour to do it for so long. Thank you."
The ReadyBike scheme in Reading has struggled since its government funding ended in 2016.
