    A "large quantity" of Mamba was found and five people were arrested during police raids in Nottingham.

    Nottinghamshire Police said three properties were searched in early morning raids in Sneinton and the city centre yesterday.

    Two men, aged 60 and 46, and a woman aged 32, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. They have since been released under investigation.

    A 54-year-old man was also detained and remains in police custody for questioning.

    A fifth person, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

    Det Sgt Louise Bradford said: "Officers visited properties in Bentinck Court in Sneinton and Shakespeare Street in the city centre on Monday.

    "The proactive raids responded to feedback about supply of drugs which has such a big impact on the community."

    Travelodge has announced plans to open 17 new hotels this year, including in Leicester, Mansfield and Newark.

    The expansion will see the hotel chain increase its network to 597 locations across the UK, Ireland and Spain, with the latest move expected to create more than 360 UK jobs.

    Hotel bosses are hoping all the hotels will be open in time for the summer holidays.

    Craig Bonnar, Travelodge chief executive, said: "After a challenging 12 months, today's announcement demonstrates the strength in the Travelodge brand and is a key step forward as we emerge out of lockdown."

    Travelodge hotels have remained open throughout the coronavirus pandemic for front-line workers but closed to customers as part of lockdown restrictions.

    Two of the 17 new hotels opened on Tuesday.

    Under the government's current roadmap, hotels, hostels and B&Bs are set to reopen for customers on 17 May.

    A walker was taken to hospital after a fall in the Peak District.

    Derbyshire Police's Dales Response Unit said the hiker fell "a significant distance" at Matlock Bath before being treated at the scene by East Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on Saturday.

    A second walker was caught "cragfast on a very steep slope" and was helped back on to the path by Derbyshire Mountain Rescue Team.

    Nine men who were arrested after a fight in Nottingham city centre over the bank holiday weekend have been released on conditional bail.

    Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to the Broadway at about 19:50 on Sunday after a disturbance when a group of men were denied entry to a bar, with bottles, chairs and tables reportedly thrown in a fight that left "a number of people" injured.

    A force spokesman said their investigation is "ongoing".

    Bargain-hunters queued outside Debenhams in Nottingham at the weekend as the department store sold off stock at discounted prices ahead of its permanent closure today.

    The retailer has been in its present location in Long Row since 1973, when it replaced the Griffin and Spalding department store.

    The 242-year-old firm is to become online-only following its purchase by Boohoo.

    The Debenhams store in Derby's Derbion shopping centre is also due to close today along with dozens of others around the UK.

    The retailer's Leicester Highcross store closed last year.

    Police are investigating a loud explosion that left "shrapnel" scattered across a residential area in Nottinghamshire.

    Several people reported hearing a sound "like a bomb going off" in Forest Town at about 21:30 on 26 April, external.

    Nottinghamshire Police said house-to-house inquiries led to fragments being discovered in an area around Pinfold Gardens, High Ridge and Siena Gardens.

    PC Luke Bayliss said: "We are now investigating this unknown explosion.

    "Thankfully we've had no reports of any injuries or any property being damaged.

    "No-one has seen anything, so we're asking anyone who saw anything or anyone suspicious in the area at that time to come forward as we don't know what caused the noise."
