  1. 'No reason' for concrete trucks diversion through villagepublished at 10:46

    BBC Radio Oxford

A request by a contractor working on Oxford's Westgate Centre for permission to drive through Sutton village because of roadworks on the A40 should be rejected, according to the county councillor for the area.

Hanson said it had lost 100 tonnes of concrete, costing about £22,500, because road delays meant it started to set and became too hard to use.

    Quote Message

They have lots of other sites within 20 miles of Westgate where these concrete lorries are going and I see absolutely no reason why they should make life even greater hell for the residents of Sutton.

    Charles Matthew, Oxfordshire county councillor

We were certainly trying to do something anyway, because obviously it's important we've got sufficient players and sufficient cover in certain areas to make sure that we're more than competitive.
