    Andy Giddings
    BBC Local Live

The hospitals in Shrewsbury and Telford are working with a hospital in America, with the aim of reducing the number of sepsis incidents.

So what is sepsis? Dr Edwin Borman, the medical director for the two hospitals explained it as "the body's immune reaction going haywire", usually in response to an infection.

It results in the body attacking its own tissues and organs and it can lead to shock, multiple organ failure and death - especially if not recognised early and treated promptly.

    Quote Message

Although Sepsis is relatively uncommon, it can prove fatal and patients who develop the condition can deteriorate very, very quickly."

    Quote Message

14% was cut in the coalition government and 8% is set to be cut over the course of this government. Basically, we can't afford to cut any more without it having serious effects on both staff and students. Courses have already been lost

Jean Evanson, Teacher and NUT rep

The government is accusing the NUT of seeking to disrupt the education of thousands of students and maintained it is investing in further education.

It says changes to funding have simply removed unfair differences in the way colleges and schools get their money.
