    The father of a baby who died at a scandal-hit maternity unit says an interim report into the failings of the unit was a "shocking and harrowing read".

    Richard Stanton and Rhiannon Davies's daughter Kate died hours after her birth in March 2009.

    The couple have campaigned ever since her death for a review into maternity care at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

    "I was shocked yesterday reading the extracts," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

    He said the stories mentioned in Donna Ockenden's report highlighted where "care has been so poor".

    The interim report lists numerous traumatic birth experiences including the deaths of babies due to excessive force of forceps and stillbirths that could have been avoided.

    A fall in rates of coronavirus has been recorded across the West Midlands apart from in Staffordshire Moorlands.

    In the seven days to 3 December Public Health England figures show the rate there has crept up slightly from 198 per 100,000 population to 202.

    The biggest week-on-week drop is in North Warwickshire, down from 251 to 118.

    Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire are currently in tier two with the rest of the West Midlands in tier three.

    The highest rate in the region is for Stoke-on-Trent at 348 and the lowest is for Stratford-on-Avon - 47 per 100,000 people.

    A list of 53 vaccine hubs in England has been released by the NHS.

    They will help coordinate the delivery of jabs in their areas, with vaccinations for the most vulnerable set to begin next week.

    A further list of sites which will store and administer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine during the first phase will be published later, it said.

    Across the West Midlands they include:

    • University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust
    • University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire
    • Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust
    • University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust
    • Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust
    • Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

    The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the first to be approved by the MHRA medicines regulator, needs to be stored at -70C and hospitals already have the facilities to ensure that.
